Major PUKE alert: Bush to get statue |
|
i wish this were a joke folks, but it's not. ===== U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige will join U.S. Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, and Hamilton City Schools Superintendent Janet Baker at an 11:30 a.m. Tuesday ceremony celebrating Hamilton High School's role in the 2002 signing of the No Child Left Behind Act.
A bronze and granite sculpture, commissioned by Hamilton residents Donna and Pat Carruthers, will commemorate President Bush's signing of the landmark legislation two years ago at the high school. It shows Bush surrounded by children and dignitaries.
Paige will deliver brief remarks at the ceremony.

In the middle of a weeklong hagiography of a president who was all about style over substance, here's the Department of Education doing its bit to maintain the same "ideal".

Once this week's Reagan-o-rama quiets down, Kerry should immediately head to this school and make a major education policy speech...
...RIGHT IN FRONT OF SMIRK'S STATUE.
NCLB is a travesty- the worst kind of unfunded federal mandate, and it's killing the schools at the town and state level.
Huge, huge opportunity here. I can't believe the GOP gave us this gift. Have you ever heard of a statue unveiling in honor of a SITTING PRESIDENT?!?!
This speaks volumes about the imperial tendencies of this Administration and its Party.

None too shabby Bush donors. No wonder they're buying him a statue: he'll pay them back. From http://www.fecinfo.com/cgi-win/x_allindiv.exeCARRUTHERS, DONNA MRS. 11/12/2003 $2,000.00 HAMILTON, OH 45013 - BUSH-CHENEY '04 COMPLIANCE COMMITTEE INC.
Carruthers, Donna Mrs. 6/16/2003 $1,500.00 Hamilton, OH 45013 retired - BUSH-CHENEY '04 INC
CARRUTHERS, DONNA MRS. 9/30/2003 $2,500.00 HAMILTON, OH 45013 RETIRED - BUSH-CHENEY '04 INC

31. Some fancy accounting done here to avoid violations of FEC law. |
|
$1,500 in June 2003 to BC04. Then, $2,500 in September 2003 to BC04.
Just one problem: The Federal limit on how much one can donate to the Bush (and Kerry) campaigns is $2,000 per election cycle.
So, to help Mrs. Carruthers comply with Federal law, BC04 subtracted $2,000 from their coffers in November, and redirects it to their "Bush-Cheney Compliance Committee," which is only permitted to use the funds for legal or accounting fees and activities. Compliance committees also have a $2,000 limit per election cycle.
How nice.

39. Compliance committees- they're the "legal and accounting" ops of BC04. |
|
Kerry probably has one, too. If another recount debacle is triggered, I think it's the Compliance Committees who go to war for their candidates.
IIRC, I think donations to these committees were unlimited in 2000. Now, they're limited to $2,000 per person, just like the campaign committees.

My head is about to explode!!! THOSE stupid, disgusting mother-fuckers! Bush's NCLB has been the worst thing to happen to public schools.. in my lifetime!! How DARE they? I'm CERTAIN the teachers and admins there are NOT happy about this. THEY know the truth.. but are probably forced to accept this "gift". GOP is probably giving them a couple thou for computers, if they just go along with it.
I love how the two donors just came up with this idea.. all by themselves. Bullshit! Two RETIRED ladies just decided (with no kids in school during the NCLB years), to commission a statue of BUSH signing a bill??? Total bullshit. Can you tell this is making me a bit angry???? I hope that the teacher's union protests.. or that people start sneaking over there in the middle of the night and putting stupid hats on his statue.. no vandalism.. just window dressing. a DUNCE cap, perhaps? Or a beanie with propeller??
