1. Am I the only one that thinks these Bush* -Reagan comparisons... |
|
are sort of like comparing arsenic-laced rotten meat with eggsalad left out overnight? One is deadly. One causes significant harm, but leaves room for recovery. Need I really say, which is which?

8. Hmm, good, although disgusting analogy...... |
|
At least with Reagan, there was at least some semblance of good government. With this regime, almost every policy decision is BAD. Want proof? Just name me one policy change that doesn't: a.) Benefit large corporations b.) Reward partisan supporters or c.) Allow the administration to slash funding privately, after the TV cameras hve gone.

2. Never thought I would vote for Reagan, but I just did. |
|
For reasons similar to those outlined in Krugman's column today.
To be clear, I don't believe Reagan was actually the power behind his administration. I believe it was a consortium or oligarchy that was calling the shots. So when I say "Reagan" it should be understood that I refer to the oligarchs he fronted for.
I believe they ran a better administration than the current one because they understood that they really didn't have a mandate to screw up the economy. When they saw how fucked up the tax cut left the budget, they understood that they had to raise taxes immediately. Of course this sense of responsibility and restraint that they exhibited toward the Treasury they did not extend toward foreign policy. But they didn't entangle the US in any pet wars, as stupid as their little mini conflicts were.
I think the choice is easy. I pick vomit.

6. Raygun, but I can never forgive him for incubating the Bushevik Embryo |
|
Really, Bush I was the Emperor for 12 years, that's clear now. And he tried to whack Raygun so that HE could rule the Constitutional Maximum of 11 years.
Raygun's Alzheimers was probably already well along by 1980 (there has been some anecdotal evidence to that point, for what it's worth), which made him ideal to hook the Imperial Wagon to.
Such a man would be easy to dupe and manipulate and lie to.
Yet, he was still better than Bunnypants*.
Hell, give Bunnypants* a contestant he has a chance of winning against, already.
Actually, I'm off to do that right now...
