Beware if you flew or fly JetBlue
"Jet Blue executives were livid when they learned how their passenger information, which they must provide the government under the USA Patriot Act, was used and when it was presented at a technology conference with the title: Homeland Security – Airline Passenger Risk Assessment.

Privacy Expert Bill Scannell didn’t buy Jet Blue’s anger.

“JetBlue has assaulted the privacy of 5 million of its customers,” said Scannell. “Anyone who flew should be aware and very scared that there is a dossier on them.”

But information from TIA will be used the DHS as a major part of the proposed CAPSII airline passenger monitoring system. That system, when fully in place, will determine whether or not any American is allowed to get on an airplane for a flight.

JetBlue requested the report be destroyed and the passenger data be purged from the TIA computers but TIA refuses to disclose the status of either the report or the data."

6. Via JetBlue?
CC#, address, name, phone. That's about all the info you are required to provide.

I haven't flown them yet because from San Diego they only go to JFK and I need to fly into Newark or Philly. But I have heard great things about their customer service and in flight benefits(better seats, Tv, food etc).

7. I think none of you
has actually bothered to read the article.

This is not about how efficient JetBlue as an airline is.

10. I love JetBlue. And by the way, it's one of the only ones that DOESN'T
Edited on Tue Jun-08-04 02:32 PM by BevHarris
yank me out of the line as a special profile, for extra seaches. On all the other airlines, not Jet Blue, I end up standing in the "special" line with a few Arab men just about every time I fly.

Jet Blue has bigger seats, leathery, cushiony, and a TV in every seat where you can watch dozens of channels. Sorry, I'm a Jet Blue fan. And believe me, I know what it is to have Big Brother watching my every move.

On the good side...sometimes you get through the line faster when you are tagged for special attention. They always say, when they see my rounded grandma self step over there, "oh, you must have been chosen randomly."

Nope, I always say with a smile. You guys always profile me. Because I wrote a book about voting.

Ai, what a country we're in now.

ME TOO!!
How odd. Other airlines ALWAYS slap an extra little "tag" on my checked bag and it has to get hand searched, and I go through the "special" line for security search on my person.

JetBlue hasn't done that to me in six flight segments.

I always assumed it was because my credit card showed donations to DU and Howard Dean.

14. Jet Blue pulled me out of line
and they were extremely nasty. Because I inquired why they would want to harass the fragile little old lady in front of me they screamed in my face and took me to a special curtained off area and bullied me. I will never forget it, Never. This was at the Burlington, VT airport last Fall.

15. I would write to the airline
JetBlue actually does seem to be interested in how their passengers are treated. I think they would want to know the circumstances, unlike almost any other airline.

17. Hmm. Well, one thing to avoid is arguing or criticizing the agents
Edited on Tue Jun-08-04 02:56 PM by BevHarris
Almost all activist tales of woe that I'm familiar with, when profiled at the airport, contained an element of questioning or criticizing the agents.

Also -- I don't think the agents are employed by JetBlue at all. They are federal employees, aren't they? But it's the check-in procedure, or your ticketing procedure, that triggers the extra search I think.

You always get searched when you go one-way or book the ticket at the last minute, of course.

Well, I don't change anything, but I did buy new (and, it turns out, uncomfortable) shoes, because my raggy old things embarrassed me at special exam time.
