Which DUer has CITGO in his signature?
We have a long trip ahead of us this summer, and I'd like to know why CITGO is better than other oil companies.

Thanks.

3. AP does I think
It's good to buy CITGO gas because it's the Venezuelan National Company and the money goes to the poor in Venezuela, IIRC.

4. It's not me (obviously) but.......
http://www.pww.org/article/articleview/2634/1/3/

The government in Venezuela is facing U.S.-supported coup plotters and saboteurs.

Every day workers and poor people of Venezuela are defending their elected government from those who want to overthrow the results of four democratic elections and privatize the state owned oil company, PdVSA.

Oil revenue from the state-owned oil company, PdVSA, is the main source of funds for the Venezuelan government. Without these funds the government will be severely hampered in its ability to carry out much needed social reforms.

If you drive, you can help democracy in Venezuela by buying CITGO gas. CITGO Gas of Tulsa, Okla., is 100 percent owned by the Venezuelan State Oil company PdVSA. Profits made here in the U.S. by CITGO are returned to Venezuela where the government uses these profits for social development projects.

And here in the Midwest, Citgo is 10% ethanol, which helps our local economy.

BTW, I only buy Citgo myself.

5. The Venezuelan government owns Citgo and uses the profits to build schools

for the poor.

If you don't like neoliberalism all that much and believe that people who work for a living all over the world deserve a slice of the pie, and if you feel American workers are better off when they're competing with other countries with wealthy middle classes, rather than countries with impoverished workers who'll work for peanuts, then you should be supporting companies like Citgo.

6. I did not know this...
And I consider myself to be reasonably well-informed. Wow. Citgo from now on. Perhaps someone should post this occasionally to make sure people are aware of it...

9. cool, I frequent a local Citgo
And, I didn't even know that about them. Of course, convenience is part of it, as they are practically walking distance from my house.

10. I buy from Citgo whenever I can
Another plus: I've noticed that Citgo tends to be a less expensive than other brands -- at least here locally.

12. I hope CITGO sells a gas card,
like a phone card except for gas.

I want to buy some in advance so the long trip doesn't hit us all at once.

Thanks again for all the info.
