Wonderful Kerry bumper sticker moment today |
|
I was driving home today, and this older man in a pickup truck cut me off and gave me the finger shouting something that appeared to be "Fucking Commie!" I assumed this reactiion was because of my Kerry bumper sticker (this would be the third time either my husband or I have been flipped off in the last week for our bumper stickers - oh and my three kids were in the car). Anyway, as he went from the far right lane across my lane to the left turn lane, I was able to see the car that had been in front of him. It had a New York WWII Navy Vet license plate, and right there on the bumper - you guessed it - a KERRY bumper sticker! As I drove past the gentleman from New York, he honked and gave me the thumbs up!

another car with a Kerry bumper sticker on it. When the owner got in his car, I walked over and said, "I'm voting for Kerry." He smiled at me!

2. What has been shocking to me |
|
is that here in the middle of Republican country, I have not seen a single solitary Bush sticker - not one. I have seen several Kerry stickers.

15. The Republicans don't |
|
The Republicans don't own the military although a lot of conservatives think they do. I'm in the Navy and I support Lt. Kerry 100%. His record speaks for itself, he was a fine officer. He is a real military man, not a Bush, Cheney, Limbaugh chicken hawk.

4. I make it a practice to honk and wave |
|
to every Kerry sticker-emblazened vehicle I see. I think I startle some folks until they see me go by with mine :)
Not to be outdone however, I reserve the puking motion for those morons who openly support Bu$h.

6. My Orlando bumper sticker story. |
|
I had two stickers on my car, the classic round "no W" and Dean for America. I was stopped at a red light and a woman in a Chevy Tahoe pulled up next to me. She honked and gave me the thumb-and-forefinger "L" on her forehead and mouthed "fucking loser!" When the light turned green, she cut me off through the intersection.
The back of her car was covered with every Bush sticker, from "BUSH WOMAN" to "I SUPPORT BUSH AND THE TROOPS". The entire back window of this huge SUV was covered with Bush stickers.
Well, karma is a bitch. A few lights later, I ended up in front of her and was the first car in line at the light. The light turned green and I didn't move for about ten seconds. Then, I got out of the car, stood up, and stretched and let out a big yawn. Got back in my car just in time for the light to turn red again.

7. Whether someone waves or flips you the bird . . . |
|
Just smile your biggest and give them a "V" for victory sign. Or if you prefer, it can mean "peace." You will provoke the reaction you want in the other person, regardless of whether they're friendly or hostile, and you don't have to get down in the gutter with the trash.

The Republicans don't own the Navy and Lt. Kerry was by all accounts a fine officer. I''m in the Navy and I support Lt. Kerry 100%. He is a real military man not a "chicken hawk". W's support among military people is strong, no getting around that, but Lt. Kerry is a much stronger candidate than Clinton was.

Clinton was a charming person, similar to Ray-gun. Clinton had the ablity to rally masses and they are both a hard act to follow.

13. Exactly - both my cousins who are active Navy officers support Kerry |
|
In fact, we have a lot of friends and family in the military and not one is voting for Bush. A couple are voting Libertarian, but the rest are all voting for Kerry.

14. I actually got out of the car at a red light |
|
today and pecked on the window of the van in front of me because it had a "Beat Mad Cowboy Disease" bumper sticker on it. The woman was alarmed, at first, but, since I'm about as big and threatening as a bean sprout, she rolled down her window and I asked her where she'd gotten it. She happened to have a whole sackful in her car and gave me one! :D
Funny thing is - I have only seen ONE new Bush/Cheney bumper sticker (there are a lot of the old ones peeling off cars that people still have because they can't afford new cars during this Bush economy), but I notice a new Kerry sticker daily. And, I live in the conservative side of the state - in East Tennessee.

18. I had an experience SORT of like that. |
|
Driving down a local street and a big, sloppy pick-up truck is in front of me with the "bush knew" bumper sticker that I've been searching for. I pulled up next to him at a stop light and hollered into his open window - "I LOVE YOUR BUMPER STICKER!" He hollered back at me - "I HATE BUSH!!!" I hollered - "where can I get one?" He shouted back - "From the Wilderness." I now have my own.
I also give a friendly nod or smile or thumbs-up to anybody with an anti-bush, pro-Kerry, or pro-Democrat bumper sticker, OR a peace/anti-war one. My kids and I look for "War is Not the Answer" bumper stickers whenever we're out (I still have mine in my back window).
Whenever somebody crowds me on the freeway or doesn't let me in, I suspect it's because they don't like my bumper stickers. TOUGH SHIT. They can EAT my bumper stickers in November.
