O'Reilly is saying that it has been reported that Clinton is livid. . .
. . .he is allowing guests to say it, however he warns them that it cannot be confirmed. Why the fuck is this about Clinton. Michelle Malkin is using this to bash Clinton, Monica Crowley is using this to bash Clinton. Lets not forget as Nancy leaned over the casket O'Reilly said lets not politicize it.

6. Nothing
There was a Drudge story yesterday quoting an unnamed "Clinton insider" saying the Big Dog was upset he wasn't asked to speak at the funeral. But since we know no Clinton insider would ever give Drudge the time of day, this story is likely nothing more than a Rove-engineered smear job by Drudge.

11. No way they would ask Clinton to speak
at the funeral? Isn't Shrub delivering the eulogy? That will be classic. Having Big Dog there will only make Shrub look ever more lame, if that is possible.

When I heard about Chimpy and the eulogy, I was reminded of that movie Zoolander when Derek Z gives his "yoo-goo-lee".

29. I heard somewhere.........
over the last few days, on one of these shows(sorry, no link. Nothin' but my memory which is questionable)that Nancy had wanted Clinton and was told it wouldn't be a good idea. Now, I don't know who told her that but I guess we can speculate. The story said the Clinton's and the Reagan's got along pretty well. Now, I don't know if there was one lick of truth to any of that cause I don't believe much of anything I read or hear on TV any longer.

17. Both Clinton and Carter were eliminated from the list
at the "festivities." All these dog and pony shows for dead former presidents have been bipartisan affairs in the past. This is just more proof of how meanspirited, vindictive, petty, and downright TACKY the right is.

They should be deeply ashamed of themselves, but since they have no concept of manners, they probably won't be.

. . .he has the two most partisan hacks on Moncia Crowley and Michelle Malkin taking swings at Clinton and then he says he wants no partisanship.

8. When I first heard that Clinton was upset
at not being invited to speak at the eeuuuwwwlogoy, (reported
by Drudge no less), I thought "bullshit". I still think "bullshit".
I doubt that Clinton could give a flying F**K at the moon if he has
to speak. I'm sure the Bushies asked Nancy to not invite him, lest
America realize that Clinton is sooooo much better at public
speaking that shrub, but I just don't see Clinton getting his panties
in a twist over this.

37. I love it ... book envy
First, I wouldn't want Clinton to speak 'cause then I'd have to watch.
Second, Clinton will be all over the map in the next couple of weeks, front and center with adoring crowds and that will drive the fuckers like O'Really (??) nuts.

The Big Dog doesn't need to speak; I don't think he gives a rip about speaking; and in short order he'll be eclipsing all this enough already reagan bullshit.

5. about what? Not being asked to speak?
Edited on Wed Jun-09-04 07:36 PM by AZDemDist6
I'd be pissed too. RR funeral is a STATE function and should not be partisan. Any living ex presidents should be asked to speak along with both leaders of the house

The fact they are not letting ONE Democrat speak is a misuse of my tax dollars. I think we should send the bill for this to the RNC!

7. Livid??? about what? IF
it is the same crap that Drudge was saying about Clinton being sore about not being a speaker at RR's funeral, that is TOTAL BULL SHIT! It is protocal that the three highest officials (or something like that) in the administration speak at a former Prez's funeral and it happens that they (of course) are all repukes. As a former President Clinton knows protocal and knows exactly why he isn't speaking!

26. My guess is that
if Nancy asked Clinton to speak, he'd say he'd be happy to, and his speech would be gracious.

If Nancy doesn't ask him, his reaction would be that he understood that too, and if there was anything else he could do instead he's be happy to do it.

I have a hard time thinking that he's livid.

10. They are being very cleaver in how they are setting this up
Bush is speaking because he is the current president. Papa gets to speak because he was Ronnie's VP (and in charge of the undercover crap going on in the WH basement). And Magge Thatcher is speaking because she was the PM of Britain during that era and a friend of Ronnie's. They made sure the speakers were backed up with 'credentials' of "why they are allowed to speak" and thus cut out any Democrats. This is just another occasion where Bush will come off as 'small' in comparison...........

14. Correct me if I am wrong but...
...when Nixon died didn't all of the former presidents sit in the first row with their wives and watch Clinton eulogize him. That seemed pretty nonpartisan to me and frankly the RIGHT way to do it. I am refusing to watch but are Clinton and Carter not in attendance? If not the whole thing is partisan just because of their absence. Oh and by the way screw the gop.

Hey, can you really blame Republicans? Would you want to have Bill Clinton speaking extemperaneously in his classy, Presidential way....and then have to listen to the buffoon who can't string 2 sentences together, in spite of having a teleprompter and a week to memorize his lines? Why remind the voter that this loser was installed by 1 vote on the Supreme Court?

20. Another Thought
I heard from two or three different sources that the Reagan family chose those who would speak. In fact, I heard that Reagan himself, asked Margaret Thatcher to deliver the eulogy, and chose the other speakers. That's not to say that politics don't play any part in it, but I can hardly see the Reagans choosing Clinton as a speaker.

Knit on,
Morcat

25. This is an example of the right wing media echo chamber.
Yes, it's been reported that Clinton is livid.

By MATT DRUDGE.

O'Reilley, Hannity, and all the rest can now kick the subject around and define the debate as "why is Clinton livid?" or "does Clinton have a right to be livid?".

Meanwhile, the accusation need have no basis in fact.

32. This smells
Why would he be livid? He probably isn't.

If it's Nancy's call, it's understandable, but not likely that she would not follow tradition and protocal.

If Norquist and Meese and other handlers are running the show, it's understandable and predictable because they have no class and dictate the divide and conquer strategy.

If they invited Carter and not Clinton or the other way around, it would have to go into the first chapter of the Crass Brown Book of Etiquette and Protocal.

for suggesting executive decisions like those in the torture memo lead to actual torture. This I managed to pick up in like 10 seconds, surfing for a non-Reagan channel. Why anyone watches O'Reilly for longer than that remains a mystery to me.

On edit: Oh, and then like half an hour later, I was changing channels again and caught Hannity asking if Reagan had never been president, would be be fighting communism and terrorism. Make it stop!
