Did they really have to send a freakin' 747 to pick up Reagan's body? |
|
I haven't pissed and moaned too much over the ridiculous level of post-mortem idolization of Reagan. It's crazy, but I expected it and in two days it will be, thankfully, over.
But did they really need to spend taxpayer money to send a 747 to pick up his body and shuttle Nancy and family to the east coast? There are other presidential aircraft that are smaller and much less expensive to operate than one of the 747s. There is a DC-9 and a 757 that I have seen photos of before.
He was a president, and clearly he should have been flown on an official plane, but a fuel-guzzling 747???
Gimme a break.

Pres. isn't on board.
Does seem a tad extravagant. I'm surprised W could spare it. Must be on a break from fundraising.

though without shrub on board, it couldn't be referred to as such.
but if he were on, it would be called "air force one alternate"

Let's hope that Clinton will have the class to make his last journey by train. It's so much more dignified. People all across the country would be able to show their respect.
Here in Canada, Pierre Trudeau travelled from Ottawa to Montreal in a black draped train. People lined the tracks, standing silently with red roses and flags. Real Class.
