All this drooling over Reagan is typical Republican slight of hand.
As we all know, Republicans are master manipulators of any situation. On it's face, all the hoopla surrounding the death of St. Ronnie is
the eulogizing of a beloved politician. But look beneath the surface and it's just more world-class self-congratulating by a bunch of people who've made it an art form. By putting forth the idea that Reagan was the greatest human to ever jump into his pants both legs at once, what they are really implying is that his conservative Republican ideology is what saved America from certain death and destruction at the hands of the liberals.
"Reagan was our guy, and he was a superior being, therefore all Republicans are superior beings with superior beliefs." is the underlying message that I am hearing. Unfortunately, I don't see this ending anytime soon. The Republicans have for years dreamed of having their own "JFK" type figure, while saddling the Democrats with a "Nixon". That's what they tried to do to Clinton... make him our "Nixon". Though they failed at that I think they now feel they've finally got their "Camelot".

1. It's also typical for Republicans to overplay their hand
and make the rest of the country sick to death of them.

4. They are more than happy to divert attention away from Bush!!
This is why it is going on so long. They wish they could funeralize him again in October.

6. yep
This Funeralpalooza is like a second Republican National Convention for them. The nonstop commentary on Reagan The Human Man-God isn't even subtle - the conservatives saved us once from the chicken-livered Democrats, and we need 'em to keep 'Murica strong 'n stuff.
