11. I was, when I went to college there
Its not a bad little town. Plus, it's only two hours from Chicago! :-) A most excellent early 80s college experience.

5. He had to look down at his notes to find out what city he was in
He didn't know what city he was in until he had to read it off his cheat notes. There was a little pause.

8. Ah...I missed that. I have been to 'zoo exactly one time many many years
ago...my friend had a guitar that was made there (Gibson, does that sound right?) and something broke on it that shouldn't have, I can't remember what - I said "let's take the thing back to the factory and make them fix it" and he thought that was a little weird but thought it might work. The company plane I flew back then was in for annual inspection so I borrowed one from a friend and we flew from Muskogee (yep, that one) to K'zoo and got it fixed. And that's a very short version of a story of absolutely no interest to any human on the planet.
:D

12. Agreed
Letterman is funny in an "I'm here doing this every night" kind of way. I like Dave.

9. Last night, Letterman did the same "GWB Lie" bit but with
* saying how great it was to be back in Dubuque. I'm sure he says the same exact thing in every town.

Letterman has showed some hilarious bits about * - like GWB inspirational moments, GWB moment of confusion. They are usually pretty good but the past two nights have sucked.

13. Letterman contempt for the chimp
If you watch dave regularly, you will see he has utter contempt for chimpy. He usually ridicules him fairly effectively

14. Letterman Has A Guy Watching Chimpster
His producer says they trap all video they can of Bushyboy...including paying local affiliates to send out their own crews to send back footage of stuff that's not on C-Span or other outlets. They then have a video editor who watches all this dry video (imagine the combat pay on that job) and if there's something strange, it's written into the show.

This is how Letterman got a hold of that bored kid in Orlando that turned into a major GOOP embarassment. His people had the local CBS affiliate go out and tape the speech and the rest is great television. He also has someone doing the same on Kerry and has shown a few embarassing bits in that direction as well.

No question, Dave despises this regime...especially since he found out someone in the White House went gunning for him through CNN; questioning Letterman's credibility (something Dave doesn't take lightly). Also there's still that time the Chimpster was on the show and cleaned his glasses on Barbara Gaines' shirt. Real class.

I tend to think Letterman's shots at this regime are as strong, if not stronger than Stewart's...and it's a very pleasant hour each night catching both shows. Now Bill Mahrer returns next month and another Carlin special is in the works. Summer viewing will be getting a lot better.
