Second Circuit: Public Has Right to Inspect Court Dockets
Wednesday June 9, 3:01 am ET
Mark Hamblett, New York Law Journal

http://biz.yahoo.com/law/040609/889f19dedded6b412213fad362e0f041_1.html

A February 2003 article in the Courant reported that some cases were sealed just because prominent individuals had requested it. The article stated that judges "have selectively sealed divorce, paternity and other cases involving fellow judges, celebrities and wealthy CEOs that, for the most part, would play out in full view of the public."

The newspaper accounts led the Connecticut judiciary to promulgate new rules that set standards for the closing of courtrooms and the sealing of materials. Among the rules was a requirement that a judge articulate the reasons for the closure or sealing and why they overrode the First Amendment right of access.

1. And this would be Lieberman's state.
I can see why the wealthy don't believe they're anything like the rest of us. The rules are different for them.

3. Interesting - maybe we can get access to the Rowland incident now?
The one where his ex-wife called the cops on him. Rowland, when he first ran for gov, had a friend of his in the Police Dept seal the records to the case where his ex-wife called the cops on him. It's widely rumored that Johnny Boy, a high school wrestler, either tossed his wife down a flight of stairs and/or slapped her around.

4. Remember High Profile Divorce Case In CT
Jack Welch - GE.

I am sure that case had something to do with this move by the judges.
