Is the media starting to point out the absurdity of the Reagan funeral?
Has anyone seen any articles contrasting the Kennedy funeral, which took place 3 days after he died, with the Reagan funeral which is now going on 5 days and counting? It's even more absurd because this is not an age when Presidents are like gods.

2. Probably not, probably won't
But Reagan's casket is becoming something of a symbolic joke. It's almost like Doonesbury. Here's Reagan's casket at the library...here's Reagan's casket in the rotunda...here's Reagan's casket at a ball game...I mean, really, talk about disrespecting the dead. Will Bush campaign with the casket?

3. He would if he could.
Maybe they could have ronnie stuffed and he could campaign for rethugs all over the Country and dedicate the thousands of places the repigs are renaming in his honor. This has GOT to backfire, I turned on the tv for the first time last night and cable "news" was wall to wall funeral FIVE days later. Today will be day six and I imagine all but the most brainwashed have had more than enough of this revisionist desperation.

4. And when Carter dies.....
Short blurbs on FOX,CNN,MSGOP about his failed one term Presidency in which he failed to get hostages released from Iran and sky high interest rates towards the end.

They'll have him in a box and in the ground in a couple of days.

Now we resume coverage of the Michael Jackson trial!!

5. No, the media is well on board here. But
this whole affair was orchestrated by the right wing long in advance. Their whole shtick is that he is simply the greatest ever, and we will ram this down all your collective throats. The longer, the better. But listen to the people interviews as they exited the Rotundra. Has anyone made any sense as to why they waited in line to pay their respects? I think not. It is mostly a lot of uhms and well, I liked him. There was even one couple who were taken back that they received a card as they exited with something about Reagan on it. Free gifts!. Oh, whoopee! Look. When you have every right wing hack talking about the freedom Reagan brought to millions, all you do is grin and bear it.

7. I saw an interview a couple of months ago
The media was reporting on the deaths a small town had experienced in the Iraq War. This was Bush country but people in town were beginning to turn on him. Except this one woman. She was asked why she is still voting for him. She thought a moment and then said, "because he's a Christian". I had to turn the station, also.

8. Yep,Godly as could be as he sold missiles to Iran...
Those people are in total denial about Iran/Contra.Yeah folks Iran, the country that our newest fearless leader has termed one of the "axis of eeeevill". Maybe their so evillll because they still have missiles that Ronnie sold them--those would be the ones with "Made in America" printed on them.

But..Poor Ronnie was kept out of the loop and didn't know a THING about any ole' "arms for hostages" dealings, mining harbors or any of that old stuff.

I heard a fun fact that only 14% of the nation in a poll believed that Reagan didn't know anything about the arms for hostages dealings. So much for being a "Godly" person....

12. Disney-fication?
Ya know, they oughtta do this state funeral stuff everyday. Make it into a Disney show on the streets of DC. If there be a lack of a president to fill the top spot, they can use one of the dead soldiers from Iraq.

Frankly, my father, as a Navy veteran, deserved a state funeral more than RR.

15. I phoned my local CBS affiliate last night and
asked them to sent out a press release, perhaps out to the local paper, indicating when the Ronathon will be over. Until then, I told them, I will be outside reading my book NOT watching tv.

18. Yes. 3 days.
He was shot on Friday afternoon, flown to D.C. Friday night. He was put into the ground Monday afternoon.

Plus, all funeral arrangements had to be made within this time ASAP. Jackie was in her early 30s and did all that.

And during this time, LBJ was living in his own house in Washington, not in an underground bunker.

considering Kennedy was shot down in the prime of life..his funeral had not been planned in advance.........as with Reagan.....
I heard this morning on TV that they had to rush and get limos and preparations to where he be flown..........
