Page 69 in Richard Clarke's book is fascinating. |
|
It talks about James Baker's stint during Bush 1's presidency. It's fascinating because it reminds me of the current Bush in office.
According to Clark, Baker didn't think to highly of Bush 1's smarts, and pretty much acted like he was the real force behind the scenes... Much like Rove today.
Plus: He stated that Baker was against Gulf war one...Something I didn't know.. I wish Clarke would have elaborated on that a bit more because I would have loved to know what Bakers alternative would have been if we did not go to War with Iraq in 92.

1. Baker must've had some business flourishing with Iraq. Always the case |

Remember, he is representing the SA against the 911 families.

2. can you amplify a bit? |
|
I'm getting senile.....just read that part a few days ago, and don't remember it much at all
I remember him discussing Eagleburger taking over during the last few months, so Baker could try to save his reelect campaign, but not what you said
that book is an embarrassment of riches, isn't it?
can't think of one that had so much fascinating revelations, one after the other
he should do a many-volume amplification of his years in office
he's the Zelig of the executive branch, yes? without the fecklessness

Wow...what an amazing image you provided to me. You are absolutely correct. :-) I, too craved more information, however, as you said, it would require several volumes.
