I HAD A HORRIBLE THOUGHT (re:Fahrenheit 9/11) |
|
I tend to worry about things to much and sometimes I just find things to worry about. Yesterday I started worrying that come June 25th there will be fires at some of the theatres that show Michael Moore's movie. What do you think are the chances that at least one of the theatres that shows his film will "mysteriously" burn to the ground in the wee hours of the morning?

...I've thought about that possibility also. I don't see it happening in my city because Philly is a very Democratic city but in some of the more conservative cities things could get ugly.

but highly unlikely. If the theatre owner is nervous, they can always hire extra security for the opening.
Let's not give ourselves a needless case of the willies.

What if meteors and comets and asteroids start falling on all the theaters that are showing the film?

11. I take it you're being sarcastic but... |
|
...in the present climate I don't think that the event I mentioned is as farfetched as meteors, comets and asteroids hitting the theatre.

16. Yes, Sarcasm is about the only thing I'm really good at. |
|
;) However, seriously, I think the list of "possible bad things that might happen" could fill a thousand volumes, and unless we are speculating for the purpose of preparedness there doesn't seem to be anything to be gained from worrying.
I've always believed that "worry is praying for things you don't want to happen." We do tend to attract the things we dwell on. It's both safer and more pleasant to dwell on the good possibilities.

23. What you say is true but... |
|
...I'm just a worrier. It's not one of my better traits. The thought popped into my head and just got stuck there. Actually, I think a certain amount of preparedness might just be called for but that's the worrier in me talking.

I think that there will be scattered protests, but I think that will not matter much.
Let's just all make sure to go see it opening weekend. If it brings in good money the first few weeks, more theaters will show it.

6. If a theater showing the movie were torched in the middle of the night... |
|
...people would flock to see it everywhere else that it's showing.
The message would be that some people REALLY don't want you to see this film.
There's no better motivator.

8. Freepers are stupid enough to do it |
|
Only complete idiots would try to burn down a theater showing the movie: talk about excellent PR for the movie! "It's so controversial, theaters are being burned to the ground for showing it!" (It'd be dripping with irony: Fahrenheit 9/11, the temperature at which theaters burn.)
Because only Freepers would be so stupid, I can almost guarantee something like this will happen....

there are usually cops at the movie theaters or outside of them. That will prevent this from happening to a degree.
Even if there are fires, we will use it to our advantage:
Those who oppose F911, support Bush. That means, those who start those fires support Bush. Those whou would start a fire at a public gathering place(regardless of who is or isn't there) are terrorists. That means those who start these fires in support of Bush are terrorists.
.....and, in order for Bush to be true to his word, he would have to go after his supporters. : P

to fire - book burnings, house burning - that Moore is playing off of in his new movie.
You *may* see a number of freepers vandalizing thermometers, though...

27. I think the Freepers should burn the DVD when it comes out |
|
Here are your orders Freepers.. Call the press, make sure they bring lots of cameras, buy thousands of F911 DVDs, place them in a pile, pour gasoline on the pile, set ablaze, dance around the flaming pile chanting over and over, "George Bush is great! Michael Moore is un-American! Burn Burn Burn!"
Oh the delicious irony. :)

25. I don't think most Americans would tolerate Freeper violence... |
|
even though the country is fairly polarized, I think most Americans would deplore such tactics and political intimidation. Despite politics, Americans pride peace and stability over partisan politics. For instance, most of the pro-life community denounces the violence against abortion doctors. Violence and chaos is something America won't tolerate... by either side of the political spectrum, no matter how polarized the country may be.
