Why the hell is Las Vegas honoring Raygun? |
|
Just heard that they are dimming the lights on the strip in his honor tomorrow - only the 6th time in history, the last being after 9/11.
What the hell did he do for anyone there? Maybe the casino operators want to honor the man whose policies drove desperately broke people there in hopes of hitting the jackpot.
What next? Maybe they'll turn the Disneyland parade into a mock funeral procession for a night. Mickey and Minnie could throw Jelly Bellies to the crowd.
impatiently waiting for this all to blow over... eeyore

3. Actually, when JFK died, they shut down business for an entire hour. |

The dimming the lights thing for Reagan in and of itself is probably appropriate. It's just when you see it in context of the media orgy that it seems over the top.

...when he was elected and decided to dare the Russians in nuclear proliferation...I would see Vegas as a kindred spirit.
