1. well, given that nothing happened in one day
it just shows how unreliable the polling is in the first place

6. And the MOE is 3.something
How does that impact the results? IIRC anything over 2 and it's meaningless.

2. Check the dates...
the second one is 2003.

Still, 18% in one year is bad enough.

7. The poster read the chart wrong
Favorable Unfavorable Not Familiar Not Sure
6/1-6/04 42 51 5 2
6/2-6/03 55 34 9 3

The first line refers to a "rolling" poll, which is one that is conducted over several days. In this case, this poll was conducted from 6/1/2004 through 6/6/2004.

The 2nd line refers to a poll dated 6/2/2003 through 6/6/2003

4. Looks Like One Year?
I hate this way of writing dates because it can be easily misinterpreted. But I believe:

6/1-6/04 means June 1-6 2004, and

6/2-6/03 mean June 2-6, 2003.

Still nice to see the comparison.

9. Yeah, one year, and I'm not seeing the 18%
Maybe I'm just blind, but I see a drop over 1 yr from 55% favorable to 42% favorable - 13 pts. The unfavorable rating rises from 34% to 51% - a 17 pt. increase.

10. Some folks just want to back a winner...
regardless.

When the wind shifts, so do they.

This is the fickle majority of contemporary America.

Shallow as a birdbath.
