I'm reading the HST classic right now. Am I the only one who can see parallels to the current election?

the rare South-American drug that made Big Ed Muskie cry and cost him the nomination. I wish that things were as open as they were in 1972.

4. Perhaps elaboration would be nice |

from what I gather from the book. I wasn't alive in '72, but McGovern wins the primary when no one thought he would. The man everyone picks to win the Democratic nomination is never in the race it seems. Then McGovern tries to unite the entire party, and loses the ones who got him nominated. Plus the joker in office in both cases.
Now we have Kerry seemingly in a very similar situation especially wth the McCain for VP idea.

5. My Favorite Political Book of Any Kind |

He revolutionized my experience of politics. I never read about politcs in terms of revenge, panic, greed, betrayal, and lust for power before.
It was "the least factual and most accurate" account of the campaign, according to one reviewer. And he personally changed the course of the election with the "wandering boohoo" incident.
