Why all the fuss about Reagan |
|
here at DU. Reagan is the ultra right's God. He and his neo-con movement are the reason for DU's existence. Mention anything about St. Ronnie and it's a kick in the guts to any good DUer. To hear this man praised for everything under the sun this week is enough to set this board ablaze. I would have been dumbstruck if this board had not erupted. I'm personally very happy the crap hit the fan here. Shows we have fire in the belly.

part of watching the corporate media this past week is how they completely ignore things like Iran Contra, Reagan ignoring AIDS and how he reacted to the outbreak of AIDS, poverrty at 30%, etc....it's like all of this shit never happened and Reagan saved the world. WTF?

2. Well, it is flooding the media. |
|
And apparently that was Ronnie's wish. I heard tell that his funeral arrangements were 300 pages long.
I tell you, if I were ever President (yeah, right), mine would be one page:
1. Build giant catapult facing Chesapeake Bay.
2. Stuff corpse with high explosives.
3. Launch exploding body of dead President over the bay.
4. Enjoy fireworks! Fun for the whole family!

6. I don't think he was either. He was old school conservative. |
|
The roots of the neo-con movement and thought I believe can be traced to his administration and those who served in it.

4. This is DU..it's not "politeliberaldemocrats.com" |

I couldn't bring myself to watch any of the funeral. I despised the bastard. I cannot ever be convinced that Reagan, the Bush Boys, Rummy, Cheney and the rest of the evil neo-cons have a warmongering, mean spirited, greedy side to them but really are a bunch of nice guys. I cannot separate policy from person.

as the revisionist, hagiographic propaganda blitzkreig that it is.
In the collective consciousness there's been lots of reality bubbling under all the sugar coated excrement, thanks in no small part by the courageous patriots on this board. Being able to listen to Air America, if only on a computer, has been a huge balance to the wall to wall prevarication party of the corporate elite media, because the issues were being exposed. fascist repudlick and the radical wrong wing corporate whore media helped, too, by keeping the issues in the mainstream through their obviously disingenuous outrage that we would be discussing the truth of the raygun legacy.
This is just another step toward the political pendulum swinging back to the sane and grown up side of the spectrum. All Americans are not mindless sheeple. I have faith that more than half of Americans do not have their heads up their asses and the democratic process will correct the absurd abuses of the power elite. (That's the optimistic, positive vibe Me. The brutally cynical part of me knows that it is going to be a long, difficult and probably bloody path back to Democracy with a capital "D". and the struggle will not end with the election of John Kerry.)

22. You have a distorted view of what this site is about |
|
But first let's dispell the crap about freedom of speech issues that consume your hypersensitive mind. If this site wasn't moderated, then it would be freeped out of existence.
The moderators are here so that a certain point of view can be expressed, if not then this point of view will never be heard.
What point of view? The one that insists that Reagan wasn't the most popular President in American History, that he didn't preside over the longest economic expansion in American History, that remembers the huge tax increase he enacted. That remembers how he cut an run out of Beruit. That is not afraid to point out that he was an adulteror, and his wife Nancy was a Hollywood pleasure girl. Oh yeah I did mention that Reagan was an idiot? He was a puppet that just read what he was given.
Your problem is, is that you are confusing popularity with competence, Reagan was a popular idiot, and a lousy president.
