My opinion is that this 6 day funeral was mainly about helping bush* |

and his re-Selection prospects. It kept Kerry out of the media's attention and let AWOL get mega doses of exposure giving "touching" speeches, while he attempted to mold himself into a Reagan look alike by mere proximity to his corpse. Ron Jr. didn't help him much, ha, ha, and the public seems to have tuned out the entire charade.
In the final analysis, the whole long drawn out sorry affair was really an insult to Reagan and his family. I do feel very sorry for their pain and loss. I'm sure it is a further dagger in their hearts to have such a hideous pResidential impersonator as * using their loved one for his ignoble ends. When will this madness end?

2. The plans were submitted in 1989 |
|
and while they were updated periodicly they weren't altered substantially. The coverage may have been a plot to help Bush but the funeral wasn't.

21. Ron & Nancy planned it out before his disease progressed |
|
The plans run three hundred pages!
My instructions to my wife are on a 3x5 card:
Harvest organs. Burn the rest. Toss the ashes in the ocean. Don't forget to collect the life insurance.

Thought you meant he was complaining about that ridiculous splash page on W's campaign site.
Pigs will fly in a frozen hell before that happens, I guess.

He got a 5 point bounce on rasmussenreports.com. But it will not last long.

11. It's amazing he got 5 pts.... |
|
He was at the casket a whole 10 seconds and looked like he really had better things to do. I thought he acted like the child he is, and brushed off the Reagan's. He really is stupid.

12. No, this was planned years ago |
|
when reagan left office. Every president is asked to submit funeral arrangements before leaving office. This is about what Reagan wanted, not so much helping shrub.

13. So he asked for 6 days of eulogies and to be transported from |
|
the west coast to the east coast and back again? That seems mighty excessive. What committee decides that enough is enough in this government??

Lincoln famously made his way home from Washington to Illinois. Seeing the funeral train along the way was a HUGE deal in many people's memories.
Whitman even wrote a poem about it, "When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd"
What can I say. It's a STATE funeral.

15. Interesting to note that in all this... |
|
... that Truman said "no state funeral." He was buried privately, amidst very little public notice.
Reagan's funeral plans run some 300 pages, I read here earlier.

He can bounce all he wants. Next week there'll be all the same stuff and it'll be back to drip, drip, drip. And with all the leaks, the drips are turning into steady streams.

22. Nah. Like him or not, Reagan really was somebody |
|
Junior's a nobody, and even less of an anything than his nobody Dad.
Sure, conservatives want to milk this as much as possible, but much is actual outpouring of sincere feelings.
Hey, folks, it's almost over. I think it'll all be just fine.
