Today was the first time I've actually felt concerned . . .
...about having pro-Kerry/anti-Bush bumper stickers on my auto.

I've seen various reactions since posting them on the back window of my little pickup truck. Amazingly, there have been more positive than negative responses -- honking horns, thumbs up, that type of thing. One individual flipped me off as he passed by, but no big deal. At the gas station, I even had a pro-Bushite ask me where he could get some pro-Bush stickers. I asked him why he thought I would know that. (Get a clue Mister - I have *anti-Bush* stickers, not pro-Chimp stickers!)

But today, a man pulled up behind me & I could see in my mirror, he was livid! First, I couldn't believe it had anything to do with my pro-Kerry/anti-Bush stickers, but he was shaking his fists at me, mouthing words & obviously directing his anger my way. Since I've decided to display my anti-Bush sentiment this way, I have made sure my doors are locked, (ok, my car doors are ALWAYS locked, no matter what! And yours should be too!) I never travel without my cell phone at my side, but WHAT THE FUCKIN' HELL??!!!

When did this free republic become a country where you had to be concerned for your SAFETY simply because you expressed a contrary view with a FRICKIN' BUMPER STICKER?!!

I'm so pissed I can't even see straight!

Your thoughts?

2. What stickers are on your auto?
Is it "Bush is a Punk Ass Chump" or "Buck Sucks" or something easy like W with a slash thru it?

3. I've been concerned for a while about that...
I admit, I'm a wuss, I have a relatively new car and would prefer not to get keyed.

My neighbor is a cop who says his hero is Ollie North. Just typical of some of the weirdness of my area of Western Fairfax County.

Yet, I'm union and I really need to make a stand and put the damn thing on the car...and send the Kerry Campaign my bill for the bodywork!

12. I hate bumper stickers.
I would never put anything on my car that wasn't required by law.

Meanwhile, I doubt very much that failing to display your politics on your bumper somehow makes you a wuss or a cop-out.

6. I think we are living in a very hatefull period
And republicans have lost their way. Unfortunately from what I have seen on this board tonight I am not sure democrats aren't right behind them. Hate and anger seem to be the only emotions people can express anymore.

7. I have Kerry on my car and
have one sitting on my desk that says "It's you, Stupid!", but must admit that I don't have the nerve to put it on my car. Maybe when it gets closer to the election, but not right now. I'm in California so don't have to worry so much, but even still...

9. excuse me
when the most listened to radio host has repeatedly called for the "elimination" of all liberals..... except of course those who should be kept in zoos as an example of "what not to be," what do you expect? Rush Limbaugh, Coulter and Savage among others have openly and frequently advocated for the Final Solution.

Furthermore, the muckety-mucks of the "regal media" have sided with the Rushies. Tim Russert and Rush are best buddies. Ted Koppel has demeaned himself by lying to cover for Rush's atrocities. PBS's Newshour hosted the Pigman as an "environmental" commentator.

So....... we have El Pigbo agitating for the Final Solution while he is backed by the mainstream media.

Did I leave anything out?

Hateful Period? You got that right. You think you can sit and sing a nice song while your neighbors hunt you with guns?

Hey! Heard that exact scenario right in the place where I live in the Rural Sates of Reagan.

NiceNice is only in your dreams.

So I guess they will stop now. Everybody talking about how much they hate Nancy Reagan has really taught Rush Limbaugh a lesson.
Grow up. If you knew anything about me you would know that nice is not one of my personality characteristics.

28. And Rush is piped in daily to those trained to kill and tought "torture"
When these "Troops" return home with their bloodlust raging and the words of Rush ringing in their heads what do we expect will happen. It is of vital importance that Rush be removed from Armed Forces Radio. Until that happens I can in no way "Support the Troops". They are being brainwashed to "Hate Liberals". How can I support that?

17. Maybe include a non partisan one touting democracy
and celebrating the right to choose among candidates. Something like: Celebrating Freedom: the right of all citizens to VOTE. Then when you get the red-faced reaction... you can wave... call out "Ain't Democracy Great!" Would shut some of the red-faced angry folks right down. Because... don't they keep telling us that George is fighting for our freedoms... and fighting for democracy?

15. Consider getting a CCW permit....
and a gun. Learn how to use it safely and properly. Run if you can. If you can't, defend yourself. The life you save may be your own. No kidding.

The RWers already have guns. Democrats should, too.

Place whatever stickers you want on your car but save space for a NRA and/or GOA sticker. I have an additional one that says Guns Don't Kill People; I Kill People. I don't even get tailgators. :)

20. there are some real freaks in Colorado
I lived there for years.

When I first moved there I had Minnesota plates on my car. I was literally driven off the road simply because of this. (they were tired of people moving there).

Unlike here in California, if you honk your horn at someone, even if it's a friendly helpful honk as in "hey, you're about to run into me" people in Colorado take that as "fightin' words" and will immediately flip you off.

When I would ride my bike in Denver sometimes big pickup trucks would fuck with me on purpose, almost hitting me and throwing shit at me.

In some small towns in the mtns they'll shoot at you if you're a stranger.

21. Oh hell, I have to worry
about someone busting a window on my car. This part of the country is very conservative. Keying is a major problem here. And don't forget the ice pick in the tires.

But I made the decision a while back, first idiot to damage my car wins 2 free .45s and a trip to the morgue:evilgrin: Luckily no one has entered the contest yet ;-)

But seriously, this is a problem for us as a country. We are loosing our respect for others opinions. When will it end.

22. Good Post and excellent replies....
Bumper stickers were discussed in here before. A suggestion is to use that thin magnetic sheeting. Cut it to the size of you sticker and stick it to your vehicle. Then take it off before you leave your car alone.

I live in Calif. It isn't so tense here as elsewhere but smaller communities couldbe a problem. Using the stickers are the only way I can show my stance without going door to door. I guess if I lived in a very conservative and dangerous community I might have second thoughts. Be safe but don't be quiet.

******I want my country back!

27. Unfortunately
this doesn't surprise me. I live in what is thought of as the textbook "liberal" area of the United States, and it has happened to me several times over a period of several years. The first time was when I was sporting a Clinton/Gore bumper sticker the first time Clinton ran against Poppy. That's all it said: Clinton/Gore. I almost got run off the road by a carload of young white Nazi types, jeering and flipping me off.

29. Stand steadfast
The worst is yet to come .

I feel the closer we get to the election the worse
it'll get . Until it reaches climax when they lose
the election . Be prepared for RW wackos to lash out
after they lose .

I'm out here in a pretty Conservative suburb .
I'm with you .

As the song says
"you can kill the protester but you can not kill
the protest. You can murder the rebel but you can
not kill the rebellion, lying still now, no way to
speak, nothing to fear, Bullets can't silence ideas"

Take heart , Stand steadfast.
