1. Have 16 soldiers been killed since last Saturday?
I knew there had been quite a few but I didn't realize it was that many.

The media should feel so ashamed of themselves. Can they really only focus on one story at a time?

:grr:

2. I've listed those identified as killed since the beginning of June
... under the theory that those are probably the coffins that've been flown in to Dover AFB since last Saturday, June 5th. Since it takes a couple of days to get the names, the last name is from the 8th. I figure that's a pretty fair approximation of those who came "home in a box" while we had this TV Ronny-gasm.

3. Have we broken the taboo on flag-draped coffins?
I've seen one particular flag-draped coffin all over teevee and in the newspapers for the last several days. Isn't that an invasion of privacy? An exploitation of the dead? If it isn't anymore, then let's start seeing a far different parade that's coming into our country through Dover AFB, mmmmkay?

4. I get your point and don`t dispute it,but the men and women who deal with
these dead are dedicated service men and women who do a very good job at what is a very pain filled task, day after day they are compelled to deal with our Nations dead troops. They do all they can to treat these dead with the honor and dignity they deserve. The:BOSTON GLOBE ran an article regarding all this and many of these troops are suffering mental problems from this painful task. I am not arguing the point you made. I am talking about the people who have to deal with the remains of our Nation`s dead troops. ...Oscar

8. Yeah, I met some graves registration folks when I was in 'Nam.
That's not a job I'd want ... down there close to medic at the bottom of my 'list.'

5. Bet every one of them had parents, spouses, children
who cried FOR REAL on their flag-draped coffins.

Suppose they'll get a thread of prayers and well-wishes?

6. I have to say
listening to the beautiful music of the funeral service tonight (I didn't watch the service in DC or much of the coverage due to work), all I could think of was how very wonderful it is for Reagan and his family to have all of this, but honestly, in their heart of hearts, can they not help but wonder whether the men and women getting killed in Iraq and Afghan deserve one musician, one song, one public prayer, a small public ceremony. So much for one man, and nothing for so many others. It made me really really sad.

Bush hides the caskets of our kids dying in Afghanistan and Iraq. They are given no recognition. It's an outrage.

11. they died for naught. i mourn their loss, not reagan's
i personally have not seen ANY soldier's funeral or coffin procession from dover. those are the dead who must die, but not be seen. only reagan's glorious casket can be seen by the citizens.

13. Truly
offensive to the dead soldiers and sailors families to do all this pomp on a 93 year old life when so many of America's young go unsung by the nation. Where did all that money come from for this 5 day funeral?
