Al Gore connection to Fred Phelps Group??

Thats what the freeper types are spouting at other boards where I posted the story about Phelps group protesting the Reagan Funeral with Signs like "Reagan in Hell".

They told me to go "look it up" so I googled, Fred Phelps+Al Gore and suprisingly I got a lot of hits like this:

Found out that apparrently in 2000 The Log Cabin Republicans were slamming Gore because of a picture of Al, Tipper, and One of Phelps's sons. And righ-wing smear media ran with it.

Phelps provides rooms for Democrat Al Gore's presidential campaign workers. Though the Phelps-Gore connection will grow increasingly distant, Phelps' oldest son, Fred Jr., is invited to the first Clinton-Gore inauguration in 1993.
