:puke: :puke: :puke:

I couldn't stomach it....here I turned on the TV after basically boycotting all week because I couldn't stand watching the week long media frenzy over the death of Reagan, but I turned on CNN, thinking okay, I'll see what the coverage of the actual "final" service is and there is Wolf Blitzer and Larry King with the most "Partisan" "Unbalanced" babbling I've ever heard. They had Ed Meese and Bob Dole (no Democratic views there) and Mr. Ex-Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev going on and on about how great Reagan was and that "can't America just come together again like they have this week" and that once this wonderful week was over that the Democrats were going to go back to fighting and that Bush is like Reagan....blah blah blah...it was a sickening Bush Cheney 04 campaign push and it made me angry to think that they were taking a family's loss (and Nation's) and turning it into a political campaign for Bush Hell, Dubya doesn't need to refer to himself being like Reagan, the media whores are doing it for him...

:grr:

1. Not in my town
Small town. I got a call from a friend today who didn't now the federal govt was shut down. He was so pissed the post office was closed and told me about all these people who had showed up and were pissed too. So most of the country doesn't even give a shit enough to pay attention, another chunk are Democrats who are pissed at all the hoopla, which leaves a tiny group of diehards to "come together". What turds. They have no clue what is going on in this country.

4. My Dentist canceled my appt. in observation of Reagan's Death....
...I couldn't believe it...thankfully it was just a routine checkup, not an emergency...he's a great dentist but a total crackhead when it comes to Reagan and the Repuke party...what's so funny, is that he is the dentist to the members of the Grateful Dead and Mickey Hart was in his office the other day when I was there with my 4 yr old and he got in a fight with him over Reagan...Go Mickey!

19. No, stay-home Mommy of two in good ole affluent Kentfield....I'm probably
...one of those Mom's you see driving by (no, never in an SUV) but don't realize is a major activist against this fascist regime...I am one of the anti-bush folks that they don't want America seeing...They want America believing its all crazy liberal tree-hugging anarchist's who are are atheist hippies and gay...(did I miss anything)...

God forbid its a Jr. League looking mommy with two kids in a station wagon that knows evil when she sees it....then again, I'm convinced that the "Women" are going to be the key to this election...that's why I posted something the other day about the new outrageous attempts by Bush Co & Karl Rove to launch a "W" stands for Women campaign :puke: Personally, I'm a "Bad Babe" http://www.badbabe.org and am active with 1000 Flowers and the MMob...http://www.1000flowers.org and http://www.themmob.org - and I'm a Code Pinko - http://www.codepinkalert.com

Yeah, go Mickey, Bob and the rest of the dead gang...as fellow Marin-hot tubbers they are definitely sickened with the rest of us Freethinkers....Without divulging too much info on "who I am", I see them around at various events for the environment and in social situations...they are sickened to death about what is happening...

When I mentioned my dentist, its really funny, because he's an amazing dentist but is the most hard-core repuke you've ever seen...I try not to argue too much with him since I don't want him to go Drugstore Cowboy on me, but its wild to think that he is the dentist to all the dead members, including ole Jerry when he was alive, especially since this guy worships the Repukes and Reagan. I'm convinced its because he turns up the Laughing Gas to 11 (a la Spinal Tap :) )....Pretty trippy when your in the "chair" looking at pictures of dancing bears (he's got them up) and got the laughing gas going and he's playing Dead music and talking about Reagan.... :)

2. Saw some of it
My general feelings-

as long as they don't steal the election they will be voted out, no matter how much of this crap they pull- people are a little afraid to say it out loud but I really think that the masses are over the *es, and will either vote Kerry or stay home. I do worry about the stealing part though.

11. well
I'm glad you trust them enough to not steal it.

As to the Bush = Reagan = Bush 04 ad why be pissed? You knew they were going to do it anyway and they did. Be happy they think everybody is as stupid as they are and doesn't see right through it.

That said, if they will do this, I trust them to not steal the election. I trusted them to not steal the election in 2000 and look how well that turned out.

If you don't vote Bush, or Kerry, vote for someone else so the vote isn't stolen for Bush. Don't sit home sitting home is a vote for Bush.

That's why the election in Spain terrifies Bush. They think the train attack got the wrong party (coincidentaly the party that pulled Spanish troops out of Iraq) elected. It didn't, polls showed that Spanish voters wanted theor troops home and were voting for the party that claimed they would (and did) do it. The thing that the terrorist attack did do that effected the Spanish election was create record turn out.

Now our choice is Vote for the guy who will add more troops or vote Bush and hope he does a better job.

3. Funny how the Republicans...
...raised bloody hell for the Wellstone ceremony and yet find nothing wrong with turning Raygun's death into a giant campaign ad...
Hypocrits...

6. My thoughts exactly - Hypocrites...they decried Wellstone's Funeral...
...and yet they have done the exact same thing in mourning Reagan but only 1 million fold...(plus worldwide televising)....scary thing is that if you tried to show them that, they wouldn't get it and see their own hypocrisy...

10. Bet they will want Nancy to speak at the convention - she'll say NO...
...But yes, get ready to be sickened beyond belief at the "Reagan Memorial" in August in NYC at the convention....

I just hope that Kerry and the Dems then come out swinging showing America how Dubya is the anti-thesis of Reagan in all the ways that America loved Raygun....

5. Don't sweat it. Bush-Reagan comparisons can and will only hurt Dubya
Edited on Sat Jun-12-04 04:04 AM by NEOBuckeye
Bush doesn't have 1/10th of Reagan's communicative abilities or the presence that he brought to the office. There couldn't be a more stark contrast between these two individuals, and even the most narrow-minded freeper has already picked up on the dichotomy.

Bush is no Reagan. He's much, much worse.

8. I agree - "George Bush is no Ronald Reagan"...but since a large portion...
...of Americans seem to think Saddam Hussein had something to do with 9/11, I worry that they will also hear the same BS out of the mouths of the Repukes and the media whores and start to buy that Dubya=Reagan....

But, your absolutely right...the comparisons can only damage Dubya's campaign if they try to use it and the Dems and Kerry Campaign can turn it back on them....I'm also secretly hoping that the Reagan family (Mom and kids) start to get sickened enough at the exploitation and speak out against the comparisons....

12. On the coverage of Reagan's funeral
It was clear that Ronald Reagan Junior doesn't think Bush is worthy to lick his father's boots. He clearly contrasted Reagan's observance of religion with Bush's "mandates." I don't think the Reagan's will stand for Bush hopping a ride on Reagan.

18. Watch Ron Jr. after a mourning period come out full throttle...
...and hopefully blast everyone who is exploiting his father...Ron Jr. is a really complex and interesting man...Here he was a Ballet Dancer who watched a lot of gay men in the dance and theater die of Aids, many thought (and still believe) he is gay/bi-sexual and he has clearly stated many times in the past his disdain for the Bush Clan...Many people have forgotten that most of the current Dubya Neo-cons who are remnants from Poppy Bush were not associated with Reagan but rather joined the administration as a result of Reagan choosing Bush as his running mate....Ron Jr. knows that and knows that these people exploited and used his father when he was President, rode his father's coat tails to win the elections after his Dad and continue to do so, even though they couldn't hold a candle to his father as a human being. I'm not defending many of the policies of Reagan, but I do think that he was not an evil man as I truly believe the Bush Co. folks are. Ron Jr. and Patti (Nancy too) know this and I'm willing to believe that they are going to speak out, now especially since its their legacy to protect their father's legacy and it shouldn't ever be tarnished by the scum that sits in the oval office now...

16. It was disgusting
I don't mind coverrage of the funeral, and a respectful tone is appropriate.

But I have never heard such fawning and bowing and scraping as those bubbleheads on CNN. They actually made Fox News seem "fair and balanced" by comparison.

Every single thing that was said or happened was treated as anotehr example of how perfect Reaganm and his policies were. They even hinted that the sun came out perfectly because Reagan ordained it.

CNN lost whatever shred of journalistic credibility they had left with their performance this week.

I think no matter how you cut it, bush looks bad in comparison to Reagan. So any commercial they are trying to do for bush I think it backfired.
