Minneapolis Star Tribune today:

Ray on our minds

In a perfect world, Ray Charles would be the next face on Mount Rushmore.

Paul Metsa, Minneapolis.

14. Not Geronimo
Sitting Bull would be more appropriate. Though he probably wouldn't approve as Mt. Rushmore was carved out of land the Lakota consider sacred.

4. If * is reelected
he should be carved into the ever unstable rock of Mt. Rushmore so that the great uniter can cause the whole damn thing to slide down like the old man in New Hampshire (the infamous New England state that gave us the neocons, thanks to all you Granite Staters). It would be a fitting tribute and symbol of what he's done to America.

9. Hey Cooper, what do you mean REelected?
Would be more fitting to put *'s face in Death Valley.
Actually, put his whole stinking body there, along with his whole administration. Naked. Far from any roads or towns. With no food or water.

8. Martin Luther King Jr
That's my opinion and I am sticking to it. He should be the next and last face on Mt Rushmore.

16. I was gonna say Ray Charles but
MLK is EXCELLENT! Aren't they already doing a sculpture of one of the Native Chiefs? You're right, don't tamper anymore with Mt. Rushmoor.....enough already.

17. They couldn't put another face on Mt. Rushmore even if they wanted to.
They have a hard enough time keeping the ones that are up there already from falling apart. If they were to try to carve anything else, it would most likely cause the whole thing to go sliding down the hill.

I kind of like it when the R's spend their energy lobbying for Reagan's face up there. The proposal can go nowhere, so they can campaign for it and spend their time and money all they like.
