You will not believe this Sun-sentinel editorial: Bush NOT above the law
Ominous Signs for the Chimp, when the Repub media starts to edge this close to accusing * of treason. Just like Michael Ruppert wrote in "From The Wilderness".

And the Plame jury has yet to hand down indictments?
If * is NOT above the law, then this can only mean...

Is * toast, or what?

2. This coming from Florida??? Is South Florida saner than the rest of the
state or do we just have a horrible opinion of the place because of Jebbie and his Gestapo regime?

12. Yup, this tiny little southeastern edge: Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Palm beach
is actually like a real, live cosmopolitan area, to some degree. Other than that, you may as well be in Wyoming; no offense to DU Wyomingians(?) :)

6. Torture acceptable in some cases???
Edited on Sat Jun-12-04 02:45 PM by gristy
According to the editorial...

If a prisoner were a known member of an al-Qaida cell, for instance, and were known to have intimate knowledge of an imminent terrorist act, torture might be acceptable in that limited case.

Known member according to whom?.
Known to have intimate knowledge according to whom?

There is no indication that this writer advocates that this person be tried in a public court of law and have competent legal representation and be first found guilty of some crime. What the writer is saying is that if a person is picked on the street somewhere in the world, and if, according to someone this person is known to be a member of al-Qaida and is known to have intimate knowledge of an imminent terrorist act, then torture might be acceptable.

So how do we define known in this case? Perhaps the writer (and the gov't) prefers the literal definition, as when Bush warned on October 7, 2002, "Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof - the smoking gun - that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud.” or as Tony Blair asserted on September 24, “(Saddam’s) military planning allows for some of the WMDs to be ready within 45 minutes of an order to use them."

9. Justice Department's take on torture, not the paper's
"If a prisoner were a known member of an al-Qaida cell, for instance, and were known to have intimate knowledge of an imminent terrorist act, torture might be acceptable in that limited case."

Known member according to whom?.
Known to have intimate knowledge according to whom?

I believe that paragraph was taken from or paraphrased from the Justice Department memo advocating that the Bush Administration had the right to torture. Not the paper's position on torture.

which are brewing. Let's see if the Sun-Sentinel is getting ready to blow the lid on them, as well.

Believe me, I live here. This editorial is unprecedented.

This could be another media signal of the beginning of the end for BushCo. We will know if it is by Aug. 1..

13. Yes, this is a turnaround for an Editorial Board of this newspaper.
Edited on Sat Jun-12-04 09:57 PM by higher class
PNAC, the WH, and the Pentagon blew up all semblance of the things we say we are supposed to be proud of - the Supremem Court, our vote, our legal rights, our freedoms, our trust that our military is there to defend us and the Intelligence Agencies are there to prevent actions against us, and that our tax dollars are being well spent.

And few saw that we were robbed...now fresh air and a fresh landscape though it could still end up being disastrous for our country.

Now, we need to have individuals from the right wing stand up.
