Hatred toward the United States
In my opinion if you have someone or lots of someones who hate you and want to do you harm. You need to listen to their grievances and find why it is so. Then you need to work toward solutions to the problems. I believe the people who hate us so bad have some real reasons for doing so, we as Americans as a whole don't want to face the reality of this. So we go blindly....

2. my view is
there is irrational hatred too, and there should be no negotiation with this, for example, someone who is trying to break in a person's house with no purpose other than to steal from and kill the people inside. They should be dealt with using lethal force with no quarter in this scenario.

4. This is not what I had in mind
Irrational hatred. What I'm talking about is the Islamic, Arabs, Muslins, basically the Middle East

6. You mean like the way
American forces broke into Iraq's houses, destroyed grandma's ancient china, raped, terrorized and brutalized women and children, "disappeared" pubescent boys and old men for no other reason than to steal that country's resources? Is that what you mean?

7. No
I was talking about a different subject in my example, like a serial killer who breaks into a house or goes around getting kicks from offing people. You know, like a Ted Bundy or some such.

RED RAIN IS COMING DOWN
RED RAIN
RED RAIN IS POURING DOWN
POURING DOWN ALL OVER ME

I AM STANDING UP AT THE WATER'S EDGE IN MY DREAM
I CANNOT MAKE A SINGLE SOUND AS YOU SCREAM
IT CAN'T BE THAT COLD, THE GROUND IS STILL WARM TO TOUCH
THIS PLACE IS SO QUIET, SENSING THAT STORM

RED RAIN IS COMING DOWN
RED RAIN
RED RAIN IS POURING DOWN
POURING DOWN ALL OVER ME

WELL I'VE SEEN THEM BURIED IN A SHELTERED PLACE IN THIS TOWN
THEY TELL YOU THAT THIS RAIN CAN STING, AND LOOK DOWN
THERE IS NO BLOOD AROUND SEE NO SIGN OF PAIN
HAY AY AY NO PAIN
SEEING NO RED AT ALL, SEE NO RAIN

RED RAIN IS COMING DOWN
RED RAIN
RED RAIN IS POURING DOWN
POURING DOWN ALL OVER ME
RED RAIN-

PUTTING THE PRESSURE ON MUCH HARDER NOW
TO RETURN AGAIN AND AGAIN
JUST LET THE RED RAIN SPLASH YOU
LET THE RAIN FALL ON YOUR SKIN
I COME TO YOU DEFENCES DOWN
WITH THE TRUSTS OF A CHILD

RED RAIN IS COMING DOWN
RED RAIN
RED RAIN IS POURING DOWN
POURING DOWN ALL OVER ME
AND I CAN'T WATCH ANY MORE
NO MORE DENIAL
IT'S SO HARD TO LAY DOWN IN ALL OF THIS

RED RAIN IS COMING DOWN
RED RAIN
RED RAIN IS POURING DOWN
POURING DOWN ALL OVER ME
AND I CAN'T WATCH ANY MORE
I SEE IT

RED RAIN IS COMING DOWN
RED RAIN
RED RAIN IS POURING DOWN
POURING DOWN ALL OVER ME
I'M AM BATHING IN IT

RED RAIN IS COMING DOWN
RED RAIN
RED RAIN IS POURING DOWN
POURING DOWN ALL OVER ME
I'M BEGGING YOU

RED RAIN IS POURING DOWN

RED RAIN IS POURING DOWN

RED RAIN IS POURING DOWN

RED RAIN IS POURING DOWN

OVER ME IN THE RED RED SEA
OVER ME
OVER ME
RED RAIN

11. look at all that "irrational hatred"--look at it, I dare you to
And still some people won't care, or will rationalize, or will yammer something revolting about Saddam.

3. Probably fewer would hate us if we had a different foreign policy,
Edited on Sat Jun-12-04 02:44 PM by struggle4progress
with a greater focus on lifting up the rest of the world and less emphasis on playing bully-boy for the corporate interests. But of course that wouldn't solve all problems: some folks just hate.

9. When you have the military power we have and you destroy the
trust the world has in your ability to be sane enough to only use that power for peaceful reasons, you create more fear and fear creates dread, mistrust and hatred! Preemptive aggressive war and now this POW torture coupled with Bush's lying cowboy attitude could very well bring the US to it's knees in the end! We may be strong, but we aren't strong enough to whip every nation on the planet in our quest to create the Bush thousand year Reich "New World Order"!(The world's people don't want to be Bushco and his Wall Street and World Bank pal's slaves, anymore than you or me!)

Bush has run his bluff about as far as he can without using WMD himself to wage further conflicts abroad! In light of the fact that Bush has no qualms about using torture like some mad dictator might, he may also be stupid enough to use WMD like Saddam or Hitler would have had they really had Atom Bombs!

The world hates us for being bullies, but they are afraid of us now, with Bush at the BIG red buttons! 200 years of building trust and good will were snuffed out in the past three years, by these greedy fools! Al Gore ain't a Goddamned bit crazy, but Bush is! Over half the people in this country don't trust Bush, so how can we expect the rest of the world to do so?

12. I agree, and what we've been doing is NOT working. Until we start
listening it is going to continue...OF COURSE!

"Give them less to hate." That's a profound statement!

13. They always need a villain....warmongering requires it.
It is a time-worn m.o. of the Repubes, look at the history of propping them up to take them down...it is quite a list.

14. Well said!
Usama listed his grievances with us. I remember the chief one being military bases in the Middle East.

Bush apparently did address some of these issues. I remember when the media was still fixated on the Iraq war we quietly removed our military from Saudi Arabia. Of course I'm sure we still have contractors over there.

Bush also gave the terrorists a whole new thing to bitch about with the carpet bombing of civilians in Afghanistan and trying to make Iraq the front for the war on terror.
