Yesterday's Day of Mourning
I wasn't able to post yesterday, but I just wanted to share with you what took place at my place of work yesterday. I'm so lucky to work in this community.

Media advisory

What: Gay community coast to coast remembers those lost to AIDS during National Day of Mourning commemorating the death of Ronald Reagan

When: Friday, June 11, 6PM candlelight vigil

Where: The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, 208 West 13th Street, New York City (between 7th and 8th Avenues)

Why: Inaction on HIV/AIDS by the Reagan administration cost countless lives

NEW YORK, June 10, 2004 — The New York Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center and the San Francisco Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Community Center will remember those lost to AIDS on Friday, June 11 — the day that President George Bush has declared a National Day of Mourning in commemoration of the death of former President Ronald Reagan.

In light of President Reagan's failure to provide leadership on AIDS — and the devastating loss of life stemming from that lack of leadership — the New York and San Francisco centers are recognizing the day by lighting candles in their respective lobbies to honor all of those who have died of the disease. Materials will also be available throughout the day to visitors to acknowledge the friends, lovers and others lost to AIDS. A vigil will be held at 6 p.m. at the New York center.

2. A couple hundred!
Not bad for short notice. And nobody called anybody else a grave-spitter either.
