I'd rather take Reagan over Bush any day |
|
Bush tops Reagan for awfulness, how can anyone argue that?
At least Reagan would compromise and smile at the Dems even as he put forth policies that they disagreed with. And I can see how some would view Reagan as a likable guy, I can't see that about Bush.
As Dick Gephardt said, "Bush is so bad he is making me nostalgic for Ronald Reagan"

people who don't think Reagan was as bad as Bush really need a history lesson. Both men were evil and stupid but Reagan at least could semi-ACT like a real president. He fooled a lot of people and spent two terms in office. He helped to create the men Osama and Saddam became. He lowered the bar so badly for a president it enabled a f***ing moron like Bush to become president. Please, stop with this "Reagan was better than Bush" BULLSHIT.

7. The Devil is in the details. |
|
Problem is that most people are ignorant of those details. Mis-perception becomes reality when people fail to study reality and allow themselves to be brainwashed by the Media which hammers mis-perception. The mis-perception that the Media hammered this week about Raygoon is a feel good one. Making a hero out of a villan. Ignoring the negative details. America has the craving for heros and the Media creates them.

So some people voted for Reagan, so what? Apparently if they are here at DU they have evolved. Haven't you ever done anything dumb?
Fact is, Reagan was not as bad as bush and the difference is that Reagan was not a messianic nut job. He was just guilty of a lot of conservative thinking which has since proven to be wrong. Bush can see how wrong it is, having history to tell him that Reagans theories failed and he is still going down the same path.

Reagan was evil to the core and he led the way for this misadministration. And it still galls me that people fell for such an utter phony. And I'm referring to DUers who do not even regret voting for that asshole.

6. Ron Reagan contrasts his Dad and W by saying his Dad is (was) a man. |

Bush is a mean-spirited, spoiled child-man, with frightening personal demons and agendas, in charge of our country. Given the choice, I'd take Ronnie back any day.

They had the basic same cadre of evil advisers...Remember Reagan's Secretary of Interior who wanted to sell of the National Parks because the Lord is returing.. Actually, Reagan's Attorney Generals were slightly more pragmatic but probably more corrupt..."The President's attorney." THink Dubya just found the likes of Perle, Negropointe..on his own.. Ask the people of Central America if they prefer Reagan or Dumb Ass. The only difference, I see if Reagan smiled more. Had some sense of humor.. Had Reagan a 9-11. WHo knows what wonders the Attorney General would have dreamed up....Recall, Oliver North in the White House Basement was drafting protocols as to when the Constitution would become invalid should the country be in some kind of an emergency; when Iran Contra was discovered.

11. Both stuffed shirts for the corporate leaders. |
|
- Be careful what you wish for. Reagan did more to destroy democracy in this Nation than even Bush. - Look at Bush as a broken burglar tool. Reagan was a working burglar tool, and the rich stole billions and became princes during Reagan's eight years. - Reagan was just what the elite wanted, a good actor and a great liar. Neither Reagan or Bush ever had an original idea, and did what they were told by the corporate masters. Reagan was just better at pulling off the scam that he gave a shit about the American people. - The cabal was wiser when Reagan was in office. They lack all restraint now, and do not have a happy face like Reagan to cover for them. They have the incompetent Shrub, and I pray to never see another Reagan. - My utmost wish is that working Americans start caring enough to open their eyes and see beyond the lies. Compare what the repugs say with what they do. The repugs constantly further the interests of the investing class, and constantly work against the common man. I hope my countrymen are wise enough to reject their terrible agenda.

Not that either had an original idea. But Reagan would better serve the interests at hand, he did get them their foothold.
