Fun with a fundraiser from college
You can guess from my DU handle where I went to college. Tonight, I got my quarterly fund-raising call from a student at Va. Tech. He was a nice enough young lad, a Stat major with a Math minor. I decided to have a little fun at his expense. After the obligatory chit-chat he began to put the finger on me for a donation. Here is where the fun started. I said the first thing we have to do is elect John Kerry in November and undo the Bush tax cuts which have taken millions from the state budgets and caused Virginia to drastically cut funding to the state supported institutions. I told him that is why the university is running a shortage. I said let's fix that problem before I pledge to give more money. He replied, "Well, sir I do not know much about that situation.". I said he needed to investigate what was going on with the state and federal budgets before calling to raise money. That pretty much ended the call.

I think he was a Bush supporter but he knew that if he argued with me that would be the end of the call. My wife was snickering in he background the whole time.
