TIME Reveals Cheney's Bunker---Dubya PO'd
Drudge has outed Cheney.

http://drudgereport.com/flash7.htm

In new editions, TIME revealed "Site R," an underground bunker on the Maryland-Pennsylvania border where the Vice President spent much of his time in 2001.

TIME wrote: "Deep under Raven Rock Mountain, Site R is a secret world of five buildings, each three stories tall, computer filled caverns and a subterranean water reservoir. It is just 7 miles from Camp David."

too funny!

11. Oh bullshit....Raven Rock (Site R) has been around since the 50's
Truman had it built...and it's still in use..and people did know about it.

12. It was never
acknowledged to the general public that that was "the bunker" location. Just cuz it has been there since the 50's doesn't mean its actual locations wasn't secret. You wanna bet that they don't now use this as an excuse to build a new one?

14. I'm part of the general public and I knew it was there
My mother told me about it. She also told me about Greenbrier. But then she was born in 1929 . However, I wasn't exactly sure where Dickie was hiding until I read about it in TIME....though Site R did cross my mind.

I think people know about it...maybe not everyone...but many. Hard to build it and not notice all the materials headed up the mountain. I would believe people just forgot or filed it away and didn't spread the word.

And with Bush, they'll use any excuse to spend money.

I apologise for my bad temper. Lack of coffee.

15. A few, does not the general public make
I think it was a mistake to reveal the location is all. They will build a new one, you know---probably was already in the works

16. They've been redoing McNair since 2001
Edited on Wed Jun-16-04 07:06 AM by Solly Mack
and refurbishing it for..well..whatever it is government does. :)

I didn't say a "few"...I said many. But I think people during the 50's knew about it. It wasn't all that big of a secret during the start of the cold war for people...even the government...to be in the bunker making business.

But I have no doubt that new bunkers are being built. No doubt whatsoever.

19. Thank you! I've been wondering just what they were doing
Hubby told me about all the construction back in 2001.

I've been curious about it. I live on a military installation and construction is viewed as "whatever it is the government does"...to explain projects that have no clear purpose.

22. Does It Matter If We Know It's There Or Not?
Supposedly these facilities are the most secure on the planet...heavily fortified and then some. What's the big deal if we know where they are or who is there? If anything it may even have a positive effect in the time of a crisis.

If these places were built to withstand nuclear blasts from Soviet missiles, I don't think anything Al Queda or whomever the latest GOOP boogyman they conger up can attack them either...of course, unless it's an "inside job".

It would be nice at the heigh of a 9/11 type emergency that we knew that the government or the leaders were in a safe and secure place...that even a moron like Bunnypants knows where to go instead of playing scared jackrabbit like he did that day. If an enemy knows they can throw their best shot and we're still gonna be standing and ready to take it back to them is the concept of mutually assured destruction that finally tempered the 50's arms race.

Right now this country is so vulnerable due to this regime's neglegence and arrogance...too busy profiteering to give a damn about another attack. If anything there are those within that cabal that welcome such a calamity...they'll be safe in their government-provided hidey-holes and the sheeple will again be scared into lining up behind them.

21. It's silly to build "secret" fixed location hideaways
Those facilities were conceived and built in the 50's when the nuclear blast capabilities were 1/1000 of what we have today with MIRV's and all. Back then you would have to accurately target a location to have any chance of doing it damage. Today, locations like Cheyenne Mountain and Greenbrier would be completely obliterated and you'd only have to drop your MIRV within the general vicinity.

They should just put the evil one on a nuclear sub. Oh wait, that's a bad idea, they'll probably want to build 30 new subs at 10 billion each. On second thought, the evil one should work out of homeless shelter or other aid giving facility. No one would ever think to look for the slimy bastard there.

17. I think they are not as concerned about "enemies" knowing where it is
as they are about regular folks knowing where it is. Now protestors can go there (or near there, or along the route from the WH to there).

Protestors skeer them more than terrorists do now.

Protestors: the NEW terrorists.
