1. The mystery of why those fighters were not scrambled must be answered.

It is about the most inexplicable thing that happened that day. If there really were standing orders then either the pilots were ordered not to scramble, or they should have been charged with dereliction of duty by now. If there weren't any standing orders then the Secretary of Defense should be impeached.

3. Yeah. Something is scrambled, and it wasn't the jets.

It is standard operating procedure to intercept flights that are off course or whose transponders aren't on.

When golfer Paine Stewart's private plane went off course, it was intercepted 18 minutes after being off course. There are roughly 100 flights per year intercepted.

He says that there was 42 minutes notice on September 11 before the plane (if it was a plane) crashed into the Pentagon, the most defended bldg on the face of the earth, and calls that "incredible."
