SBC calling for Southern Baptists to pull their kids from public school |
|
Just heard this on the radio this morning. Wonder if that means the SBC will offer free Christian schools for their congregants? They say they are doing this because the public schools are anti-Christian. I find this humorous. I am a public school teacher, and I couldn't even have my class read Harry Potter this year because a Southern Baptist parent in my class complained. One complaint, and I was told, "Sorry, but you can't read that book because some people find it offensive." Oh yeah, what if a Wiccan parent had complained that it did not accurately portray witchcraft? Doubt anything would have been done then. ARGH!! What about all the Southern Baptist public school teachers out there? Are they supposed to quit their jobs? About 2/3 of the teaching staff at my school are members of SBC churches.

1. I don't know if they are free or not, but here in NC there are a lot of |
|
home schoolers, private schools of a religious nature, and schools based in churches, etc. I think this is the motivation for school voucher legislation etc.

2. actually, this is good news |

That means that professional school boards can teach evolution, genetics, astronomy, geology, history, math, physics, logic, without any freepin interference from some brain-damaged, auto-lobotomized, bible freaks who think that some higher being took some mud out of his pocket and formed the earth with his hands, then set it as the center of his universe.
Think of the waste that goes into legal fights and elections when these crazies try to force their weirdness on the rest of us.
The ones I feel for are the innocents, the kids being brainwashed from the start.

When I'm old and infirm and depending on the younger generation to take care of me, I'll be depending on a nation of ignoramuses. Nothing in their empty heads but Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
Well, that gives me something to look forward to.

9. It won't be Jesus in their heads... |
|
...it will be the hateful theology taught by the SBC, and their ignorance of everything else.

4. Yeah, ,good from the standpoint of not having to face endless censoring |
|
but imagine if Southern Baptists actually all did pull their kids (which they won't do, like I said earlier, many are school teachers, many more cannot afford private schools, or have two parents that work and can't homeschool etc.). But if they did (1) A lot of teachers would be out of work, because this would be a huge chunk of the public school population (especially in the south), and (2) imagine what this would do to our country to have that many kids getting an "education" that is so slanted. These Christian schools are little robot factories, not to mention that it would be defacto segregation (and don't you believe for one second that race isn't a part of this).

5. Unfortunately not true |
|
A homeschooler ran and won a seat on the schoolboard here as a stealth candidate. Schools need to start passing rules about having a child in the public school system in order to keep them out.

6. "Are they supposed to quit their jobs?" |
|
Well if they support the SBC and the platform that they believe in, they will quit their jobs and do what the SBC tells them to do.
The other choice is for them to form an alternative group and join back up with the World Baptist Alliance.

12. Thing about the Baptists |
|
Part of their original doctrine was no creeds, and the concept of soul sovereignty that every inidividual has to make his/her own decisions. Also, they believed at one time in the concept of the individual churches being autonomous - no telling individual churches what they could or could not do. Now the SBC has turned into this big control group that tells not only individual southern Baptists churches what to do, but thinks it's their business to tell the rest of us what to do as well! I briefly attending a SBC church a few years back. Didn't last long, I can tell you that.

13. This is the cutlure war |

A progressive society can only function as long as there is no significant resistance to progress.
As soon as the progress becomes sufficiently uncomfortable for a large enough group it is relatively easy for them to disrupt the process grinding any real progress to a halt.
