NUNN on Veep List, and Tori for VALENTI?
This, from the wingnut gossiper who called co-wingnut LIMBOsevic "blowhard" and other things a few days ago.

NUNN SO BRAVE

IN the race among Democrats to become John Kerry's running mate, former Sen. Sam Nunn, 65, is ahead by a nose. Sources say the FBI has started combing through records of his business dealings, reviewing files and relationships. No wonder they started early — Nunn, a native of Georgia, serves on the boards of ChevronTexaco, Coca-Cola, Dell, GE, Internet Security Systems and Scientific-Atlanta, in addition to acting as co-chair and CEO of the Nuclear Threat Initiative. A rep for the Kerry campaign said, "We're not commenting on the process."

WE HEAR . . .

THAT the No. 1 contender to succeed Jack Valenti as head of the MPAA is Tori Clarke, who was Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's able press secretary. Clarke and the other prospects have been in L.A. meeting with the studio heads who make the decision . . .

2. Nunn's a Solid Choice
Unimpeachable defense record. Difficult to smear. Not electrifying, but most candidates aren't.

Nunn sounds like a safe choice, but I think Kerry chooses him, he's clearly going for the kill and trying to win some Southern states. If Nunn could just win Georgia (not a given by any means), that would be a big swing state in a close election.

3. I'd prefer Nunn as Secretary of Defense
I've never been much of a fan... he's always been a member of the "conservative wing" of the Democratic Party. I still feel that John Edwards is the way to go.

He could add gravitas to the campaign though, if he would agree to a high-level cabinet position when Kerry is elected...

4. Nunn doesn't have the best record on gay rights
He voted in favor of the defense of marriage act
Voted against prohibiting job discrimination on basis of sexual orientation
Fought Clinton on gays in the military

Where does he stand on abortion? I don't remember.

He's got some good points, but I have reservations.

5. IF he would send the right signals, I'd be fine with it.
But he HAS said that he made a poor Democrat and would make a poor Republican. That's fine, as long as he's 100% committed to the political annihilation of the Bush regime.

9. Sam Nunn???
Noooooo!

That's the way. Reward one of the most spineless Reagan-enablers of the 1980s.
