Let's be honest, Bush is going to win more states than Kerry
The majority of small states with 3-6 electoral votes are going to go overwhelmingly for Bush.

Kerry on the other hand will win states where people actually live.

1. Depends entirely what is uncovered by November
I affirm your theory as things stand now, but a lot of crap can hit the fan by Election Day.

17. UNCOVERED BY NOVEMBER???!!!!
What else can be uncovered. Everything that he and his administration have said is a straight up lie. He took us into a war under false pretenses. We are involved in sex/torture scandals. Thousands of people were denied their right to vote in Florida. They let bin Laden's family leave after 9-11. His dad's administration supported Saddam and ole bin. Everything that comes out of Bush's mouth is stupid. What else could possibly come out?

Oh, I think there is tons that could still possibly come out. the question is whether it will be reported and whether it will dent enough heads to make them think.

2. Right, by the same logic that says 44 is a larger/higher/bigger number
than 51, right?

Chew on this:

Back in 2000 bush didn't take the majority of votes at a time when people really didn't know him.

What on this planet makes you think MORE people will vote for a proven liar, war whore, crappy leader under indictment?

Americans aren't that stupid. Kerry is a good man. You would be well served to support him rather than supporting the idiot in chief.

Being an American, I've met many of them, as well as visited FR, and I must say that Americans do seem to be that stupid.

3. Do I detect a little coastal predjudice?
"People actually live" in states with fewer electoral votes, too. Iowa, for instance has often gone Blue and probably will again. Kerry shouldn't take these for granted. If you've played with the electoral map on the LA Times site, you've surely noticed that it could actually be very close, with some of those "small states" making the difference.

7. You're right, every electoral vote counts
And no, it's more big state bias than coastal bias. If Kerry lost Iowa, it would hurt. If Kerry lost California, it would almost guarantee a defeat.

11. True. But California is "safe." Iowa is "in play."
Though, I think it will go Kerry. After all, it reelected Vilsack and Harkin, despite a heavy White House-backed push to unseat both in 2002.

27. Fortunately, however, Kerry is NOT going to lose California.
But, true enough, this is NOT the time to take anything for granted. Every little state counts, also. It all adds up.

I really don't think Bush will even be running for president by November.

13. Which is REALLY why the Electoral college is undemocratic....
Wyoming's 450,000 has 3 EC's 1/150,000

California's 35,000,000 has 52 ECs 1/700,000

but at least the EC is better than the Senate

WY gets 1/225000, Ca 1/300000000

18. Of Course Kerry will win the powerhouse states
Democrats usually win the states with the largest populations (or most large cities) because people in large cities favor socialism in general as compared to those who advocate states rights in the smaller states.

21. The breakdown
Edited on Wed Jun-16-04 06:08 PM by Gom Jabbar

Bush will definitely win:

Texas (34)
Oklahoma (7)
Colorado (9)
Utah (5)
Wyoming (3)
Mississippi (6)
Alabama (unless Roy Moore runs for President) (9)
Georgia (15)
Florida (yes he will, face it, he's got Jeb) (27)
Tennessee (11)
Alaska (3)

Those are definite wins. Kery, on the other hand, will definitely win:

California (55)
New York (31)
Massachusetts (12)
Maine (4)
Vermont (3)
Conecticut (7)
Rhode Island (4)
Pennsylvania (yeah I said it) (21)
Michigan (17)
Illinois (21)
West Virginia (5)
Oregon (7)
Washington State (11)
Maryland (10)
Delaware (3)
DC (3)
Hawaii (4)

I like our chances.

30. I didn't include them
because, frankly, I'm not informed enough to judge where they're at. I didn't want to jump to any conclusions. So I guess you're saying ND and NE are mortal locks for Bush? I'll have to add them to the pile.

Thanks.

25. Bush will win
because they are going to disenfranchise enough heavily Democratic counties that he will win the "popular vote" which has always annoyed him because people are always throwing that up in his face.
This will "legitimize him, and shut up Democrats.
You keep thinking that after "stealing" an election and getting away with it, Bush will actually WORK for one.

He won't.
He's simply keeping it close enough to steal.

He will simply use those black box voting machines in "selected neighborhoods, and laugh at everyone who actually believed he could be defeated.
Then, once he wins, he will reinstate the draft, and get the pesky 18-25 demographic out of the way.
