Oh man! I think we're in trouble!

I can see it playing out now...impeachment procedures against Bush and Cheney for their crimes of revealing a covert CIA agent and violating the Geneva Convention will result in their resignation in disgrace before the convention. In a state of panic, the Republicans nominate John McCain for President and Rudy Giuliani as VP.

That would be a tough ticket to beat. :)

2. Cheney is the Prime Minister. His spot is non-negotiable.
Pigs will fly before Cheney is dropped from the ticket. Two reasons:

1) He is the man in charge. Bush is a figurehead.
2) That would be an implicit admission by the administration of failure, something they simply don't do.

22. See my second point.
Plus, McCain is a WH enemy and Giuliani is a pro-choice, pro-gay moderate. The fundies would stay home in droves.

4. Slack jawed, drooling Republican lackeys will never get rid of W...
The Reps are, simply put, too stupid to realize what a horrible and catastrophically bad president W has been. And since impeachment proceedings would have to proceed in the Republican controlled house, you can rest assured that W won't have to worry about impeachment. He'll certainly be renominated...

5. If that were to transpire (the resignations)
... and a disgraced political party could then move to actually still WIN an election only a few months away ..

we'd be in much more trouble than you think!

6. heh heh
dems don't have to vote to convict, now, do they?

as if this could ever happen, even if the house indicted

not enough time to get it through

dems would LOVE to see impeachment, tho, then be so fairminded as to vote against conviction in the settlement

how would THAT be for bipartisanship?

then, on to a landslide Dem victory in November

bring em on!

He has accepted full responsibility for the Halliburton bids and has stated that Chainey (chain gang) was not informed. Chainey is Sgt. Schultz, "he knew nothing".

9. If Bush is impeached, expect Armageddon.
There is no way the Bush administration will simply hand over the reins of power to anyone outside the Neocon inner circle. The game is for keeps right now.

11. Impeachment? I laugh man. That is impossible.
George Bush could walk into the Senate and call Hillary Clinton a traitorous terra-ist pull out a gun and put two bullets in her head in the middle of the Senate chambers and they still would NOT impeach him.

That is insane you say?

Yep, but sorry man you got a Repuke Congress -- both houses. People seem to forget this. They have the Senate and House and they got the Supreme Court on a leash.

It will not and cannot happen.

14. Resign? Are you kidding? NEVER!!
Bush will declare himself and Cheney above the law, or he'll pardon everyone else before he goes. Especially seeing as how the alternative is doing 10 years in the slammer with Bubba....

16. I think that'd be a winning ticket, for sure.
But the Repubs, like Bush, will never admit they were wrong in choosing Bush as their leader. Their motto is to repeat something over and over, despite facts to the contrary, knowing that eventually the people (who are stupid, they think), will believe them. So far, that's been working. Until very recently.

I'd rather have Kerry than McCain,
but either would be a whole lot better than the usurper.

Neither Kerry nor McCain would let the fundies
and the robber barons wreck the country the way Bush* is doing.

Getting the BFEE out of power is the most important thing,
since they are a threat to practically everything that sane
people hold dear.

If it happens before the election, it will be a good thing.

If Bush and Cheney resign in disgrace, that will do enough damage
to the Republican cause that even Diebold won't be able to get
very many of them elected.

We could have another national election like the ones in 1976,
when the Republicans, disgraced by Watergate, could hardly get
anyone elected.

18. Bush is too arrogant to willingly step down, and he won't be impeached.
But if Dick Cheney really is the de facto executive of the country, well, retirement is probably looking pretty good now. He legally fleeced Halliburton for about $40 million when he unexpectedly decided to appoint himself as VP, having to sell off all of that stock which coincidentally dropped like a stone a few weeks later. The batteries in his ticker machine are running low and he needs to get that fixed soon. His neocon buddy Scooter just took two in the gut for him and he's about to take one in the head for Valerie Plame. Might be a good time to get out. One thing is fairly certain: if it fits Cheney's self-interests, regardless of the needs of his country, he'll do it. Besides, Hunter S. Thompson guarantees it.

That leaves the Boy Wonder without a Batman, though he'll never be without his faithful butler, Karl. He could graciously retire to France to avoid the death penalty under the War Crimes Act of 1996, or he can continue to arrogantly wave the flag and bravely sport his tin cowboy hat. Which path will he ever choose?

I think we're going to see Dick regretfully step down for reasons of health, to be replaced with someone who can soften the rich, white, bible-thumping image they currently have. Too bad they don't have a black female version of Mr. Spock waiting around, one who is already deep enough into it to know better than to squeal....

and get another Pres. Ford to grant him one in return but the timing could be risky. They are counting on a huge attack to carry them over.

If not... he is
