Rumsfeld ordered prisoner held off the books!
Pentagon officials tell NBC News that late last year, at the same time U.S. military police were allegedly abusing prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison, U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld ordered that one Iraqi prisoner be held “off the books” — hidden entirely from the International Red Cross and anyone else — in possible violation of international law.

It’s the first direct link between Rumsfeld and questionable though not violent treatment of prisoners in Iraq.

The Iraqi prisoner was captured last July as deadly attacks on U.S. troops began to rise. He was identified as a member of the terrorist group Ansar al Islam, suspected in the attacks on coalition forces.

3. Yeah, but will anything actually be done?
I'm not holding my breath.
:eyes:

I've come to the conclusion that probably none of these fuckers are ever going to be held accountable for their crimes.

4. Only one prisoner huh?
Don't suppose this one prisoner might have deserved "special" treatment because his name happenned to be Saddam Hussein? Wasn't that about the time they killed Cheezy and Queazy (or whatever their names were)?

5. Lost in the system?
In fact, once the prisoner was returned to Iraq, the interrogations ceased because the prisoner was entirely lost in the system.

Lost in the system my ass. He is either dead or being held somewhere and Rummy knows all about it.

9. So is Bush going to hold him responsible?

10. Rumsfeld staying after this is a great talking point.
Bush cares more about loyalty to his peers than serving the country with an accountable team.

That becomes our talking point.

I think Rumsfeld is going down though, they need a scapegoat before the election.

11. Well, he can't just fire Rumsfeld. Who would be left to mind the
store when Bush and Cheney get indicted? :p

I swear these guy give me new flashhbacks of the Reagan administration every week. Criminals from top to bottom.

How the Republican party has managed to survive so long with such a history of corruption is beyond me. How they managed to assume the mantle of "morality" is far, far beyond me.
