Susan McDougal is right. Something that I have always hated about Clinton.
And has pissed me off about him since his first days in office. He is more interested in taking care of his enemies than he is about taking care of his supporters. He spent most of his term trying to build a consensus/kiss repub ass, meanwhile the pubs were knifing him in the back over and over again.

Jeez, If anything. Clinton's real issue is his codependency that he has towards his abusers. I sure hope that Kerry is not like this, because I am sick of it. We elected you, pay attention to us not them.

I have to go to work now, but I just had to get that off my chest, especially after the 60 minutes interview. I will reply in the morning. Thanks for listening.

1. Interesting take
I have always felt that while Clinton definetely wanted to do great things for the people of the country, he enjoyed the game way too much. For him, winning was more important than really accomplishing the goals set out.

2. there was a lot I didn't like about Clinton . . .
but the one thing that I found distressing enough to actually question whether or not I should vote for him was when he went ahead with the execution of a mentally retarded man in Arkansas while running for president . . . that tells me an awful lot about the kind of person he is deep inside, and it revolts me . . . I did vote for him, but held my nose and asked for forgiveness (for both me and him) while doing so . . .

3. He defended that...
by mentioning that the manwas not "retarded" but lost part of his brain in a suicide attempt. There was no retardation or injury when the crime was committed or when the sentence was passed.

However, it did seem that he was more interested in currying favor with the pro-death penalty vote than he was interested in justice. Many of us in the anti-DP movement had some serious second thoughts about that.

It wasn't really about justice at that point, it was about simple humanity, and it looked like Clinton would sell his for a few votes.

5. It is part of his psychological make-up
It makes sense to me.

He has horrific and violent experiences as a child - how does he choose to process them?

He could have (as most do) turned the experiences into a hatred for 'the other' or 'the aggressor'. Or he could have chosen to not let such an incident occur again (utilizing mental peacekeeping).

He chose the latter. He was brilliant for the choice - and weakened (not seeing the true evil intentions of others until it was too late).

IMHO

6. Perhaps he was and still is a little naive.
You would think that after all these years in politics that he would have gotten over his naivette. i guess that Arkansa is a long way from Washington.
