RWers should make up their mind about moral relativism
This column from the nearly-useless John Kass is just another undistinguished example of a line of thought coming out of defending the Iraq war. How can they hang onto this, don't they know they're just digging themselves deeper into this moral hole?

<snip>

But can the severed heads of Americans now finally put this Abu Ghraib business into some perspective?

Abu Ghraib was not a ring of hell.

The Iraqis were terribly mistreated, yes. They were embarrassed and made naked. Their dignity was stripped from them. The photos of their brutal treatment were used immediately as propaganda in the political wars, both over there and over here.

But there was one thing.

Their heads weren't cut off.

1. They did make up their minds
IT's fine to practice it in matters of war and corporate corruption...it's not fine to use it for any social justice matters.

2. Yeah, We just stomped a few to death. So much kinder than

3. I'm sure we beheaded plenty
including children, in their own homes.

But we apologized (sometimes).

4. Where were the right to lifers
before we stormed into Afghanistan and Irag? Why didn't they line up to go collect all pregnant women from those places so we could protect the unborn, Oh, that's right. THOSE unborn aren't the concern of fundies. Only if you are a poor American woman do they concern themselves with your uterus...Deaths of Expediency are relative as well

5. How many Iraqi prisoners were killed during interrogation?
How many thousands of INNOCENT civilians (babies, mothers, fathers)were killed in this unnecessary war?

Here is how the typical Freeper would respond:
The war is justified because WE are "Christians" and believe in the "right" God. Those are just Muslim rag heads who don't deserve to live. And they started it with 9/11. Well, Iraqi's didn't do 9/11 but they are all Muslims, hence, they are all the same and deserve to die! Sieg Heil! Sieg Heil! Sieg Heil!

check it out" www.freerepublic.com ... it wouldn't take you long to find a post with exactly the same comment.

6. Funny how the people who say that the world is Black/White,
Good/Evil, All or Nothing

Suddenly discover the 6 trillion shades of gray when it's their boy in the crosshairs . . .

7. Ah, yes. "They weren't beheaded. Therefore what we did to them is okay."
