would be up in arms if they tried, so it will not happen.

6. The right wingnuts would have a field day with it.... |
|
and paint all the Democrats as tin foil hatters. Better to let it seep into the public consciousness as a box office smash.
I heard more and more people discussing the Bush disaster after his book hit the bestseller list--people who were absolutely unaware due to their reliance on the mainstream media.

Maintain the attack on MANY fronts. Don't consolidate them in one place. W needs to be attacked not just in NY, but in the multiplexes without DNC imprimatur.

8. A powerful scene that could be played is the difference between the bases |
|
On the ad airing for 9-11 when Bush says "the haves and the have mores. Some call you elite, I call you my base."
Compare that to the hard working middle class base for the democrats and that could really rally the crowd!
I am certain they use that in one way or another.

9. Remember what happened when the last time we had Moore at a Rally? |
|
It brought Clark down.
Much as I love Michael Moore - we don't need to alienate any voters that were on the fence. THOSE are the people we need to have come out to vote.
Once Kerry is safely elected - then let the fur fly. I say play it at the Inaugeration instead.

11. Fat chance. The DLC would rather fry their own earlobes. |
|
Courage is not their strong suit. Not to mention ethics. In fact, I can't think of any strong suit in regards to the DLC.
|
I thought so.

24. Ah, I see. The Democrats should bow to the right wing because it's smart. |
|
Now I get it. It's really stupid to stand up for ethics and all that silly stuff. Rather, play to the right because it's "stupid" not to let them run the Democrat convention.
I assume that you are of the school that Kerry's vote to support the war was "smart", and his continued support of it are marks of..what? Intelligence?
Yes. Moving to the right is very "smart". Just ask President Gore.

12. It's a movie, not a campaign ad |

I think we should let it remain a movie. It's powerful enough as is.

while i haven't seen the movie yet and i'm very likely to endorse the positions it espouses, showing the movie at the convention would be a major mistake ...
the strategy, whether we like it or not, has been to "run towards the center" ... the party has elected to appeal to centrist voters and even moderate republican voters ...
showing a movie like F911 at the convention runs counter to the democrats' central strategy ... it would likely alienate those in the center who hate all the partisan bickering between the two major parties ... let the movie speak for itself ... it doesn't need an endorsement from the democrats ...

National Conventions are not movie theaters, nor should they be. The Convention should be a showcase for our finest Democratic leaders, and it should provide a forum for which to lay out our plan to restore peace, dignity and fairness to America.
Michael Moore's movie may help some people see the light about the BFEE, but there's no reason we should use our Convention to highlight the film.

19. Absolutely! Moore's movie should be exclusively associated with the |
|
subject matter. While the Democrats maintain the high ground at the convention...
Let the movie play on in movie theaters.
Democrats needn't wallow in the mudd created by the GOP for it's pseudo-elitists.

This is an independent film by and independent filmmaker. While I personally admire Michael Moore and am looking forward to the release of this documentary, he has said loud and proud that he is not a Democrat.
The convention and the Democratic party shoud not be tied to Michael Moore and F/911 should not be seen as a partisan movie.

20. Moore gave Katie Couric an earful this morning... |
|
and she just sat there smiling trying to degrade the credibility of Moore's film as a partisan attack on Bush..
He shot back with...(paraphrased)
"Well, somebody had to do your job for you!!!"
"Where were all of you and the other big media outlets when Bush was calling for War?" He mentioned the instance when Kennedy was proposing War. JFK brought pictures and diagrams to make his case before the public, proof positive the Russians were a threat to Peace.
Then he asked her again, "Where were you?" he said, "You all just bowed your heads and complacently went along because it was coming from the white house!"
Then he backed off a little, finishing with an appeal to the media for truthful journalism..
Katie quickly switched gears and was off to commercial.
There aren't very many people that I absolutely abhor, but 'she' is one of them...

While the movie's viewpoints may make sense (haven't seen it yet), and while I will likely support many, if not all, of its views, it would be too radical for the convention. Granted, in a lot of ways the party's main problem has been its inability to remain comfortably, and vocally, on the left, but showing a film by a director who many moderates see as a nutso socialist is not the answer. Let Moore and moveon.org and other progressive groups do their work separate from the core of the party, but help to build up the progressive grassroots base.

23. i dont know. havent seen the movie yet but |

from the sounds of it, what moore focuses on isnt my biggest point on bush,. will have to see though. i wouldnt have spent so much time on the saudi connection. i would have hit the plame, energy, enron, calif recall, texas redistricting, the florida vote, lie to iraq, incompetence afterwards, the contract labor there and their greed and how it created such a mess in iraq.....ect
but again, just a feel i have and merely from what has been reported on news, and we know how uninformative and off they are
