Irish not impressed by Bush photo-op plans

Passed along to me by an Irish co-worker today. He noted that Bush is clearly NOT visiting to sample the beer -- and that many people back home whom he knows are not political are irritated by Bush's upcoming visit and the disruption it will cause. Apparently the main road to Shannon Airport is going to be shut down! He is actually rather conservative (and admired Margaret Thatcher), but the torture issue has put him firmly against the administration -- he has unpleasant memories about being singled out at British Customs because of his Irish passport, and doesn't see the prison photos as a "prank" at all.

and Ireland currently holds the presidency of the EU, so they have to play host.
