What happens in Iraq one week from today ?
That is the scheduled date to turn over sovereignty to the Iraqi "government". What happens on that day? Is there going to be some type of ceremony? Or do we just hand off the baton as we sprint our asses out of Baghdad?

And will there be terrorist attacks, car bombs, etc, on that day, to commemorate the new government? Or will that day be just like any other day, beheadings, bombs, and so forth? What's your prediction for next Wednesday?

1. US troops will pull out. Iraq becomes a democracy.
Peace in the middle east.

At least that was the plan.

Suckers.

2. Nothing.
Iraq is already a soverign nation. Why does the media/world let them keep saying that? It's all ceremonial - for campaign purposes. Then again....perhaps we are all stupid because the media hasn't reported all the 'great' things going on in Iraq.

4. More important is what happens one week MINUS ONE DAY from today..
- most of the new Iraqi gov't will be 'incapicated' or 'resign' leaving a power vaccume

- massive explosions throwing the country into chaos

and ShrubCo has to stay in control... 'for the good of the Iraqi people'.

5. in practical terms, nothing
the handoff is a symbolic straw man.

administration of basic services will become much more complicated and inefficient.

The US military will still carry the big stick.

Every significant decision will have to be approved by the "Coalition."

There will probably be a huge upsurge in violence. Things have gotten so far out of control recently, thought, that it may be hard to see a big difference.

8. It's my birthday.
Last year I spent it at a funeral. This year looks to be almost as much fun. Start of World War III, maybe?
