Awesome, Awesome review... Plus he gets in a good dig on Ken Starr at the end!

2. Lonesome Dove is one of my favorite novels ever
More the reason McMurtry is one of the finest and best writers, period.

4. Southern writer likes another southern writer
I'll read the review in a minute, but I just told my husband that as a reader starts the book, it takes a little bit to get into the rhythm of the language, but after a few pages it is easy and flows well. It occured to me that it is easy for me to read, and interesting as well, because I'm from Oklahoma, and he writes like I talk and like I think. And of course Texan Dan Rather thought it was great, and now McMurtry.

So when some snippy little thing in the New York Times says it is wordy or ponderous or whatever, just remember that there are many who will find it charming.
