Poll question: So, who saw the latest police abuse video? |
|

Since these things rather surprisingly develop into big debates. Let's just have a poll.
In my opinion, the officers involved...

1. That guy doing the whacking... |
|
should definitely be reprimanded somehow. The suspect was already reduced to submissiveness, yet he whacked away. Way out of order, IMHO.

2. So, should the police be above the law? |
|
I suspect that if the "perp" had whacked the police officer on the head that many times with a baton he'd probably be facing jail time.

3. He surrendered. He was on the ground. He was being cuffed. |
|
Cop #3 ran over and kicked him in the head. Then he struck him 11 times with a metal flashlight. He should be fired, and the other officers suspended without pay.

6. Hannity acually said we "shouldn't rush to judgment" |
|
as the video was playing thwack after thwack with the flashlight.
You suppose they'll try a defense like the other cop did a couple years ago when a tape surfaced? The "perp's hand uh, grabbed my groin... its behind his back, so you can't see it - but uh... he did, and it was self defense!"

8. stunning, absolutely stunning. |
|
cops are trained to use the "MINIMUM" level of force to affect an arrest. going over and above, you MUST justify it or face discipline or, in an egregious case, criminal charges. Beating some poor fuck's head in while he is on the ground and no threat to the officer can't possibly be justified.
abuse like this can be laid at the feet of a police department's leaders. If mid= and top-level commanders show that abuse will not be tolerated, it will be rare. If they let on that a little extracurricular whacking is acceptable, it will become frequent and ultimately result in something like this or worse -- and then riots an lawsuits follow.

9. I don't know the specifics yet |
|
Yes, it looked severe, but I don't know exactly what was going on. I'm automatically suspicious of anyting I see on mainstream media. I'll reserve judgement until I hear both sides of the story.
