Pornographic Approval
Pornographic Approval

Concurrent with the release of former President Bill Clinton's thriller, "My Life", it was reported that his approval rating was 52 percent. This approval rating closely parallels pornography's. Both share two district characteristics: appealing to pruriet interests and lacking any socially redeeming qualities.--by Henry A. Pace, Pasadena, Texas

----------------

This is a comment from a Houstonian that was printed in the Houston Chronicle today. I don't know what to say about this. I know this guy doesn't really believe it, you know he just wants to bash the former president once more. He is also wrong about the approval rating when Clinton left office, it was more than 52%. And I wonder how does he know the percentage of people that look at pornographic material. Could he be one of them? Hmmmm...

Lots of Texans on DU.

Also lots of Texans on FR.

20. Let's make a wild supposition
Let us assume that no more than one-fiftieth of a percent of all Texans are on DU. There are almost 22 million Texans--one-tenth of a percent of Texans being on DU would mean the entire board was Texans, and we know it's not.

79 percent of all Texans being conservative idiots would still leave over 4.5 million right-thinking people in the state. Now get a map and draw a circle around Idaho, Montana and Wyoming--you have two Texan liberals for every one citizen of all three states.

Texas is so big, a "small" liberal population still adds up to a lot of people.

13. And about 79% of those
insulting Texans are ignorant and have never been here. That remark was SOOO completely unnecessary.

FSC

18. 80% of all statistics are made up.
But I guarantee that this Texan could mentally kick your ass.

As could the other Texans on this board. Watch yourself, son.

2. Well, since Bill's book
is kinda informationally boring, as opposed to filled with kinky action, I don't see the man's point.

6. I like it, but
he could have used a developmental editor and an additional 6 months. The pacing is off - I haven't finished it yet, but it feels like he took his time at the start then had to start rushing his writing to meet his deadlines. I also don't know how good the copyeditor was. But again, let me stress that I like the book overall, and I would not call it boring.

3. He's referring to the WaPo poll that has Clinton's approval rating
at 62 (not 52) percent. They asked people if, looking back, they approved of the job he did as president. You can see it at http://www.pollingreport.com

When he left office, his approval rating was well above 60 percent. BTW, there is nothing remotely prurient in the book, Mr. Pace.

17. I knew there was a reason I like that pose.
LOL! Just kidding. I like it because of the smile on his face and it shows how big his hands are. It's a bold pose. I never thought of it as a kneeling perspective until when you mentioned it.

If I wrote a letter about Bush that was as inane as that one, they'd never print it..
