Bush praise of ex-con turning her life around angers her victims
Edited on Thu Jun-24-04 03:31 PM by Norbert
PRESIDENT BUSH: Saving America one soul at a time. Speaking about good souls, we've got Tami Jordan with us. She is - she's an inspirational person. Why don't you inspire? Tell us your story.

TAMI JORDAN: Well, actually, I'm one of the success stories from the Talbert House.

A few years ago, I made a poor decision. It pretty much turned my life upside down. I was incarcerated for three years. And after my incarceration, I was released to the Talbert House, transitioned to the Talbert House.

...

BUSH: Is that your family down there?

JORDAN: Yes, it is.

I honestly don't think that I - I think my story would be different if I didn't have the support of my family, my church, my friends, the Talbert House, who pushed me, encouraged me, and actually gave me the opportunity to step back into society and once again to become successful. Like I said, I'm successfully employed. I'm very happy what I do, and I'm not stopping.

BUSH: There you go!

JORDAN: I look forward to the future now.

BUSH: Thank you very much. You did great.

JORDAN: Thank you. Thank you.

BUSH: I think I see four very proud children.

JORDAN: Yes, right here, and my baby.

BUSH: Yeah, and your baby.... OK, one's a nephew, a proud nephew.

Auntie did a good job, didn't she?

Thank you very much. I loved your story. There's nothing like having a story like this to be able to share with people

This was the exchange between the woman that aparently turned her life around after serving time in jail and the Talbert House. This gave shrub a feel-good story to brag about all he is doing for the people before heading to grab more money from rich folks in Indian Hill.

This mornings story:

Touting his program to rehabilitate ex-offenders in Cincinnati on Monday, President Bush put his arm on Tami Jordan's shoulder and called the convicted embezzler a "good soul" and an "inspirational person."

But the victims of Jordan's crime - a small, family-owned business in Fairfield that lost $308,170 to Jordan's deception - say she isn't rehabilitated and hasn't paid the court-ordered restitution.

Of all the people in Cincinnati they could pick out as an example, and they picked her," said Susan Morin, the owner of Gorman Supply Inc. "She's on the front page of every paper, sitting with the most powerful man in the country, and I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to pay my bills next week. Is that fair? Where's my federal program?"

In the town hall-style meeting at a Corryville halfway house, Bush highlighted Jordan as an example of how faith-based programs can help rehabilitate ex-offenders.

Mind you I am all for rehabilitating people that have previously chosen a life of crime but it sounds like this lady still has some issues to deal with before all is forgiven. Hopefully Ms. Morin will somehow be paid back. The silver lining is that it makes shrub look like an idiot (or moran) once again.

Hopefully this isn't a dupe.

1. This Is The Same Person.....
...who made fun of Born-Again convicted killer Carla Faye on TV after she was executed.

* * * * *

Bush was a governor in love with the death penalty. He executed 152 prisoners, more than any other governor in US history.

One was Carla Faye Tucker, for whose death Bush became justly infamous. Tucker was convicted of murder, but in prison underwent a dramatic conversion to the kind of fundamentalist Christianity Bush claims to embrace. She became an astute observer of the prison system, and asked Bush for a meeting. He refused.

After Bush had her killed, he sadistically mocked Carla Faye Tucker on a conservative talk show. Asked what she might have said had he met with her, Bush assumed a scornful whine and imitated a woman pleading for her life. Governor Bush apparently found this as funny as his recent presidential search under a table for the Weapons of Mass Destruction that never were found in Iraq.

5. Does anyone have a recording of Bush mocking her?
I've heard about this many times, but I would love to see a video or MP3 of this circulated. If he said it on a talk show, there must be a tape of it somewhere.

but the mockery of Bush repeating the phrase in a mocking tone has been fairly well circulated.

Meanwhile, I think Bush is busy making sure he loses Ohio.

2. Pub Nerdism at its best. In the rush to make First Dufus look good
they over look the simple facts, happens all the time. "Torture? its not torture if we play with the words... How bout we call them prisoners "Detainees".. then we could apply some real pressures?"

3. Reminds me of the case ....
of the woman in the early 80s who had sex with her boyfriend, but didn't want to admit it (I don't recall why it came up), so she accused another man of raping her. He was found guilty and sent to prison.

She became 'born again' and went to the prison to "rehabilitate" him. She later confessed.

If you commit a crime and 'find God', then all is well for all parties. If the victims complained, it's because they haven't accepted Jesus.

9. You knew because
you are probably deeply familiar with faith-based bullshit. You get a nose for it.
