My letter to Senator Allard |
|
I have NEVER been this angry at a politican before. I hope he reads it:
Dear Senator Allard,
I have already corresponded to you about the above mentioned legislation through HRC and the ACLU, but I felt I needed to send you a personal letter to express my feelings about this topic.
How DARE you co-sponsor such hateful legislation? Do you not remember that you BARELY won your Senate seat this last time around? Fifty-one-percent of the state selected you - I would hardly say you represent me, my neighbors or my state. Representative Musgrave’s own county did not even support FMA.
Having traveled to Washington and witnessing The Constitution in its glass case I was awed by the system of government it has created in this dear country of ours. It is supposed to be a guiding document for our country not some piece of paper for you to use to further your religious views and personal agenda. I am ashamed that you and Representative Musgrave represent our State in the United States Congress.
I know I will never change your mind, and I'm sure that this e-mail will get put in the "Liberal" pile since your ideology is well apparent as you wear it on your sleeve.
When I was growing up in Massachusetts I was proud of my country and the democratic system it represented. Having watched my immigrant parents struggle and save to reach the American dream inspired me to reach higher and work harder. I moved west to Colorado for a better life and job. I loved this state, its environment and people, but lately it has become a bastion of hatred and unacceptance that saddens me. Most importantly you, Representative Musgrave and President Bush have made me lose my faith and respect in politics and our government. It is no longer about representation, but further political agendas. It is not about the people but about the party. It's not about Freedoms but about Constraints. What happened to the Republican mantra of less government-involvement? Legislating morality seems pretty big-brotherish to me.
Thank you Senator Allard for making me lose faith in this country and its government.

1. comment #1: what legislation? comment #2: hope he actually |

reads his mail. I sent two nasty emails, one to Arlen Specter and one to Rick Santorum. Arlen Specter's email address wouldn't work, albeit I tried several times. Santorum sent me a letter back for each of my emails, saying how proud he was of his contributions (to the Patriot Act and the Medicare Bill), and detailing all of the wonderful components of this legislation. How can you represent if you can't even LISTEN!!!!!
