Concert For Kerry: Dave Matthews Band etc...
Dear fearnobush,

We're pleased to announce the rescheduled date for "A Change is Going to Come," The Concert for John Kerry.

Join us for this historic concert at Radio City Music Hall on Thursday, July 8th, featuring an all-star lineup of performers including Dave Matthews Band, Mary J. Blige, Jon Bon Jovi, Whoopi Goldberg, John Mellencamp, and Wyclef Jean.

... John Mellencamp... always thought he was a freeper type. I'm so glad to be wrong on that.

2. Mellencamp has never been a Repug
In 84 Raygun's people wanted to use "Pink Houses" for their campaign (completly oblivious to the song's real meaning) and he said no. How many Repugs do you know that support Farm Aid etc? Mellencamp is no freeper. Never has been.

4. guess you've never heard his update of this woodie guthrie song?
To Washington
by John Mellencamp

Eight years of peace and prosperity
Scandal in the White House
An election is what we need
From coast-to-coast to Washington

So America voted on a president
No one kept count
On how the election went
From Florida to Washington

Goddamn, said one side
And the other said the same
Both looked pretty guilty
But no one took the blame
From coast-to-coast to Washington

So a new man in the White House
With a familiar name
Said he had some fresh ideas
But it's worse now since he came
From Texas to Washington

And he wants to fight with many
And he says it's not for oil
He sent out the National Guard
To police the world
From Baghdad to Washington

What is the thought process
To take a humans life
What would be the reason
To think that this is right
From heaven to Washington
From Jesus Christ to Washington

5. Love that song. Mellencamp did a great job with that.
And that's a GREAT album, too, by the way. Even if you don't think you're into John Mellencamp, or even if you're pretty sure you're not. It's far removed from his "John Cougar" days.
