A Nagging Thought
I'm one of many who listen to Air America all day long during work. Yesterday, Randi Rhodes was on a roll, upset many and satisfied many more with her claims to go after Saudi Arabia. While I absolutely love Randi, her knowledge of what is happening, and know that my work has to wait until Randi finishes her stuff, my opinion strongly differed from her somewhat. I don't want to offend anyone, and maybe I haven't considered everything here, so help me understand our options.

The middle east has a strong religion that they live by, a religion that we not only don't understand, but strongly condemn as invalid. That rightly makes us the "infidels" as Bin Laden wants to call us. While members of the Islam religion could easily conduct suicide bombings and other horrific events within our boundaries, they are trying to warn us that they mean business. They couldn't be more clear "GET OUT OFF OUR SOIL AND LEAVE US ALONE."

So what does our country do in return? We invade the holy grounds where many believe we do not belong. We try to force our democracy on a country that has always said "WE DON'T WANT YOUR DEMOCRACY" while they take the whole meaning of democracy and freedom of speech away from us. We try to force christianity on a culture that knows spirituality far greater than most our christians.

In other words, instead of talking or thinking about bombing Saudi Arabia compared to Iraq, Turkey, Iran or any other "axis of evil" country, why don't we talk about respecting the culture and religions of others, helping them realize their own resources and stop commercializing for the benefit of our already greedy corporations.

1. But remember what Randi actually SAID
...she suggests NOT that we bomd=b or invade Saudi Arabia
but that we stop hopping into bed with the royal family
(so to speak)
and let them know that we will not play with them
unless they address the dire issue
of the madrassas (schools)
in which little saudi children (not the royals()
are taught to hate the west

thats what she said

in other words,
we need to get real with this bunch
and stop pussy-footing around

2. I understood that
The Saudis are in the same position we are. We both have greedy, lying crooks representing who we are for their own personal gain and at our expense. Every day since 9/1l, I wake up hoping that the radicals haven't pushed that fatal button yet, understanding the Bushies are responsible for this preemptive invasion and not the American people.

Like Saudi Arabia, do we deserve to be bombed because our leadership has taken us hostage? How would we respond if they invaded us, to overthrow our evil regime, and tried to force Islam on all us good Christians, and oye, how would any Jewish mama feel around her religion being attacked.

Randi talked about hatred in Saudi, but not here. After several arguments with callers, she finally clarified her statements meant within a structured classroom. While she was right around the classroom and people in general, she glossed over the fact that people here are not taught hatred, but most religions and high moral GOP leaders teach Americans that we are superior beings. It's the heartache of the people who pay attention to the manipulation going on with the right wing conspiracy.

I love Randi and her knowledge. She's right on so many levels, even that bombing Saudi should have come before Iraq. My point is that before anyone is bombed, why don't we, the United States of America, respect another culture and get out of their country.

3. Of course, that is
after we clean up the mess we made. Again, respect.
