I just saw Fahrenheit 911 in Denver
OMG. I cried through most of the movie. It is so powerful and heart-wrenching. Go see the movie and then take a friend to go see it with you.

I hate that man so much right now.

*cries*

3. No...
The auidence was very supportive - it was a $40 donation to get in for alternative TV and radio groups. About 2/3rds full.

There was clapping during some of it - silence in others. Crying throughout.

2. One question....
I absolutely have to see the movie, however my fiance (who btw is very anti-bush as well) can't stand to watch "negative" movies. She likes being able to walk out of something without feeling sad, hell she even avoids the news largely. Basically is there any way to take her along without her being extremely pissed off at me in the end??

5. I don't think so...
There is some pretty graphic stuff from Irag in there that we have not seen. It'll probably bother her I think, but the rage you feel afterwards....

Very powerful.

6. Go with someone else
you can't make someone enjoy something they have no interest in. My husband cries during almost all movies so i know he's not going to this one. Just go with friends, tell her about it and then maybe she'll change her mind.

8. maybe
she'll just be 'extremely pissed off' at Bush instead
after all, thats the point

tell her that in order to be stron gin her beliefs
she must face the enemy
and digest what is there

this is the only way she will be fully armed

13. We can't decide for others what they "need" to face
For all you know, she is already burdened inside by the pain she knows those people are in.

We make a lot more progress by respecting others, rather than trying to control them, and push them to do what we think they "should" do. After all, we don't like it when others treat us that way, so we can't be surprised when others don't like for us to push them.

14. I agree. I'm going by myself.
My husband has no interest in seeing it. He already knows how f'd up things are and he's a Republican - (on his way to Independent.)

12. My suggestion....... let her be.
She already knows the situation, is already on "the right side", and doesn't need to be "talked into" going to something that is clearly not what she needs right now.

Basically, this film is not directed at those of us who already "know"........ this is for the fencesitters.

My guess is that she is a sensitive person, already cares deeply about the people affected, and doesn't need to be bombarded with more than she can comfortably process, when there is not much more that she can do about it.

Some of us need to take care of ourselves so that we can fight the good fight.

So, please....... be understanding of her, and walk a bit in her shoes so you can really grasp what she is telling you, then value that in her, and support her in her decision. She will see it if and when she is ready.

Instead, take someone who *needs* to be shook up....... take someone who doesn't "Get It". That's where the conversion needs to take place.

16. That's where the "encouragement" needs to be placed.....
I'll be hoping for you that your "freeper" friend will go with you, and will have his/her eyes opened.

And, you're very welcome........ thanks for listening!

4. Was it a full house?
Just curious about how it's doing in other parts of the country. It's sold out all over in NYC I hear.

17. I can't wait to see it tomorrow
Most of my friends and family are interested in seeing it, but for those who are undecided, I play dumb and say things like "well political or not, I'm just amazed that this movie got the longest standing ovation in Cannes Film Festival history AND it's the first documentary to win the big prize since 1935." That normally gets them thinking about it.
