Do my eyes deceive me, or are there no "I've got Clinton's book" threads? |
|
Seriously, I don't see any. But then again, I haven't looked farther than the first page. :P
Another factor could be that I haven't been on DU since a very, very brief period on Monday. And in fact, I didn't know it was coming out Tuesday night - I was under the impression it would come out June 30th (hard to trust Amazon.com now...).
Anyways, who here's got Clinton's memoir? Anyone finish it (900+ pages :))? I pre-ordered mine, 40% ($21 - quite a steal for a book that costs $35). Saw them all across the airports in Harrisburg and Chicago - I almost hugged the first person I saw in HIA pick it up and purchase it. Haven't started it, but I have looked through it - nice photos. This is something I've been waiting for, and it was nice to have it greet me coming back from my conservative father's home.

4. I pre-ordered a copy of Clinton's book on Amazon.com |
|
My copy came two days ago. Nice airport story, by the way. Anyway, I, like you, haven't read it yet. I flipped through the book briefly and looked at the two sections of photos. I did read small sections here and there, like on Vince Foster's suicide. Clinton has an easy writing style to follow--it flows well.
I'm currently reading Bertrand Russell's "Human Knowledge: Its Scope and Limits," so when I finish that, I'll read Clinton's book.
For those of you who haven't bought a copy yet, support the cause and pick yours up today! Every little bit of support helps in the battle against the forces of evil.

It appears you are somewhat new :hi:
I still have a poop load of books ahead of Clinton's I need to read - Arianna's, the new one....um...Presidential Leadership or something like that, a couple Wellstone books I'm re-reading for a part of a book I may or may not write, etc. By the looks of it I'll have enough books to get me through the school year :)

Nice to be a newbie here. I've been coming here for a while before I registered. I enjoyed lurking and reading the posts and replies. I figured, hell, why not join in the conversations, and put my opinions and commentary in as well? LOL.

7. Books are expensive... |
|
I'll wait till the library has it, or I find it online.
The most I'll spend for a book is like $15 or so, which is about the price I'll pay for a DVD.

I hate to be a plugger, especially since the last order I got from there was CANCELLED...sorry, it still stings...but anyways, for example, I found a JCM CD there for 99 cents which in Barnes and Noble would have cost me $15.

10. I tried Half.com, but don't have a credit card |
|
Half.com only allows for credit card purchases and online checking account payments I believe. I will not get a credit card, so I shop for metaphysics, epistemology, and other philosophy books on Amazon.com. If you spend over $25.00 on Amazon.com, the shipping and handling is free; plus there's no sales tax unless you live in the state of Washington. I usually buy two or three books at a time. Clinton's book is $21.00 on Amazon.com. Half.com is way cheaper from what I've seen.
