Medicare is planning a lottery for people with cancer, multiple sclerosis
"Medicare is planning a lottery later this year for people with cancer, multiple sclerosis and several other diseases. For the 50,000 winners, the government will start helping pay for their medicine, but more than 450,000 others must wait until 2006.

We DESERVE George W. Bush as our president!!!!!

If the 50% of the retarded americans still think Bush is doing a great job after reading this article, we absolutely deserve him as our president.

We do not deserve someone smarter and saner!!

This country prefers a folksy, fast talking car salesman over any intellectual with any amount of conscience and self-introspection.

2. Check out what the idiot Thompson said...
"There'll be a lottery to be chosen as one of 50,000 LUCKY individuals," Thompson said.

16. I'm So LUCKY I Have M.S., Huh?
If you've got cancer or MS (like me), there is nothing that can happen that would be considered lucky.

The luck is if you don't need the medicine. Thompson is an idiot, simply because he has missed the obvious element of logic.

4. it's no joke. it's a fucking CRIME!
Congress wrote the program into last year's Medicare prescription drug law to give a head start to people who take oral cancer drugs that can cost tens of thousands of dollars a year. Treatments for MS, rheumatoid arthritis and six other illnesses that can be administered at home also will be covered, the Bush administration announced Thursday.

"This initiative will get these breakthrough oral medications into the hands of seniors fighting cancer so that they have the best opportunity possible to beat the disease," said Rep. Deborah Pryce, R-Ohio, whose daughter died of cancer. She wrote the provision, along with Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine.

However, the law limits the new program to 50,000 people and $500 million, at least $200 million of which must be spent on cancer drugs. Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson estimated 500,000 to 600,000 Medicare recipients without prescription drug coverage are eligible.

"There'll be a lottery to be chosen as one of 50,000 lucky individuals," Thompson said.

some of that Iraq money sure might have been able to help out the "un-lucky" 500,000+...if only halliburton was in the health care industry.

12. I know..........
I'm one of them. Found this out the day after I found out that my employer will no longer carry me on their insurance after Jan 1 2005. Ain't life grand? I have MS not cancer thank goodness for me. I won't die from this but I'll probably wish I would after my MS therapy is stopped.

13. Hey onecitzenBtrayed

Ain't Amurika grand when it comes to health care? It should be health no care. I have Lupus (SLE)and the kidney disease basketball player Mourning has, so I know how you feel. Emotionally that is, not physically. I can't get life insurance anymore and the health care plan I am on through my partner's employer is several hundred dollars a month. Then you still have all the co-pays. I'm trying for SS disability right now because I won't have anyone pay a grand a month or more to keep me alive. Ridiculous.

Good luck and I hope your MS stays under control.

15. Oh Skarbrowe......
I hate that for you, I really do.

How's it going with SSD? If I can help you in anyway let me know. I've helped a few others. It's been a while since I dealt with it and my memory is very much affected from the MS but I would be glad to help anyway I can. My first piece of advice would be to get an Attorney after your first denial. Put it in their hands to take some of the stress off of you.

19. Do you mind if I call you One??

Just this time. heh heh. YES! I would love to hear from you. My e-mail is RobinS2000@aol.com. I'm really not concerned about anyone seeing my e-mail name. I am seeing an attorney on Tuesday. I had my first denial about 30 days ago. If you have any information or just a word or two of advice I would be truly appreciative. Hope you're having a good day.

18. this goes hand in glove with their plan to check everyone's mental

health. and if needed, proscribe the proper medicine and treatment.
